What is a RomCom?

• A Romantic Comedy is a story of romance but offers more than a love story, it offers an amusing plot.

Components needed for a successful RomCom.

1) The main character in a romantic pursuit.

2) Hero has a desire that conflicts the love pursuit.3) Concentrate on events leading up to the romance, but not so much the romance itself.

4) Show the lovers belong together, even against all odds. 5) Include a happy ending.

Target Audience

• The main audience for RomCom’s are generally women mid/late teens plus.

• RomCom’s can be described as chick-flicks.

• They attract women due to the romantic pursuit and ‘happy ending’ which women enjoy!

Why are they liked?

There are many reasons why:-

• Easy to watch- you don’t have to concentrate to hard, there easy going.

• Main characters are good looking.

• Have a happy ending – feel good film by making you both laugh and cry!
