For example, if we have a quarter and three dimes, we can start with 25 and “35, 45, 55.” If you have a jar of coins sitting around at home, encourage your child to sort, add, and/or make set amounts. Maybe your child can even make a chart of the coins; how many in each category and the total. Monarch Caterpillars Thank you to Lorien, Callia’s mom, for bringing science into our classroom! Monarch Caterpillars Thank you to Lorien, Callia’s mom, for bringing science into our classroom! By the time you read this, the chrysalises may be falling away to reveal monarch butterflies, and if not now, then soon. It’s been so much fun watching this beautiful process right in front of us!

Picasso Reading and learning about Picasso’s life helped us to be more forgiving with ourselves as we tried our hand at drawing and painting beautiful fall leaves. This week, we’ll be writing fall poetry to go with our leaves.

Stop-Motion Fun Our second animation project this year turned out pretty cute, silly, and fun, don’t you think? If you haven’t had a chance yet, check out your child’s project on Seesaw. And even though the video may only be a few seconds long, quite a lot of thinking, planning, and execution went into it. It’s my hope that as the year progresses, the students will expand their vision for project outcome & increase in skill and tenacity. Thank you to Kerri, Willow’s mom, for providing the mini-pumpkins for each child to use in this little project.

Have a safe, fun Halloween week! ~ Ms. Boyesen

Halloween

Our class will not be having a Halloween party on Wed. since most kids get plenty of sweets and treats outside of school. But we will make learning fun with a special “Break-Out EDU” collab-orative project with Ms. Heyer :-) Be sure to ask your child to explain it to you.
