Readmitted and Students Returning from Study Abroad

Readmitted and students returning from study abroad may participate in room draw if the Dean of the College provides verification of your return by the room draw application deadline. You will choose a room and one of three dining options: a meal plan contract through Dining Services, membership in an eating club or co-op, or to cook on your own as an Independent.

Who Is Not Allowed to Participate in Room Draw

• Rising juniors and seniors who will live off campus. • Rising juniors and seniors who will live in eating clubs. Please e-mail your club name and phone number

to the Undergraduate Student Housing Office at [email protected]. • Students who will study abroad during the fall semester. • Students who will be on a leave of absence for the fall semester. • Students with approved special needs who fulfill requirements specified by the Office of the Dean of

Planning for Room Draw

Understand the Room Draw Process

To navigate the room draw process successfully, you should be an informed participant. You need to know, for instance, your physical space and living arrangement options, rules for applying for room selection as a group or as a single (depending on your situation), and proxy regulations if you are not available during your room selection time. You also need to review your meal plan options carefully so you can select the dining plan best suited to your needs.

Princeton One Stop Housing (POSH)

To participate in Room Draw you must log in to Princeton One Stop Housing (POSH), a web application which allows you to complete the room draw process online. You may access this system from the upper right-hand corner of this website in early February, and you will need your NetID and LDAP password to log in. When you log in, information specific to you and your selection process will display.

Visit Rooms

Be sure to visit as many rooms as possible before applying for room draw, so you can get a good feel for the space you could occupy next academic year.

Take a Look at Floor Plans

Take a look at the floor plans for the dormitories you are considering. Note the square footage of the rooms and the locations of the bathrooms, kitchens and common areas. Laundry facilities are also shown.

Know What Rooms Are Available

Log in to POSH to view the available rooms list, which is posted in mid-March and shows the rooms that can be selected in every draw. POSH will display the list at the same time that draw times are posted. The list is based on preliminary occupancy ratings for the next academic year.

You can order the available rooms list by dormitory and by the number of students who may occupy a room. Then sort the list by square footage, gender regulated areas, gender neutral areas or substance free areas.

When room selection is in progress the list will appear in real time, indicating which rooms are still available. You should refresh the list often during the draw.

Room Draw Glossary

Room Draw Terms You Should Know

Available rooms list: A list of rooms available for selection during room draw. As rooms are selected they are removed from the list in real time. You can filter the list by Residential College, building and rated occupancy, and then sort it by square footage, substance-free, zones or gender. Log in to Princeton One Stop Housing (POSH) to view the list.

Application weights: The number of points assigned to a room draw application. Generally a higher class rank is awarded more points, and an application with greater weight results in an earlier room selection date and time. See the Application page on this website for more specifics.

Dropping down: Joining another group with a later draw time. Dropping down can be advantageous to individuals or groups who want to draw into a suite that is not fully occupied, especially when there are no singles available.

If you drop down at your draw time:

• Log in to POSH, and look for a list of draw times and group numbers. Find the number of the group you want to join.

• Each member of the group will receive an email, informing him/her of your request. • If your request is accepted by at least one group member, your new draw time will appear on your welcome page. • If your request is rejected, you may select a room at your originally assigned draw time, if there is a room available.

Group draw: Two to eight students who choose to live together and apply to room draw under the proxy of a designated group leader. Gender and class may be mixed. Wilson College sophomore groups may include up to ten students.

Independent: A student who provides his/her own meals. Independents choose not to contract with Dining Services or join an off-campus eating club or eating co-op, and cannot participate in Residential College or Upperclass Room Draws.

Independent pledge: The statement Independents agree to electronically when participating in an Independent room draw.

“My signature on the Housing/Dining Agreement acknowledges my full understanding of the University’s definition of an Independent. I certify by my signature that I am aware if I fail to abide by the Pledge, I will be referred to the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate students for disciplinary action. If I am found in violation of the Independent Pledge, I understand the penalty is normally probation. I am aware that the probation is a matter of permanent record.”

Last selected room list: A list of rooms selected in the preceding hour, useful to determine if your room choice is still available. Log in to POSH to view the list.

Mixed class group: Two or more students from different classes who choose to apply to a group draw.

Princeton One Stop Housing (POSH): The University website where you apply for room draw, select and change your rooms and meal plans, and electronically accept your room and meal contracts. Use your University NetID to access POSH. When you log into POSH, you will find a welcome page with information specific to you.

Proxy designation: Authorizing another student or the Undergraduate Student Housing Office to select your room when circumstances prevent you from logging in to POSH at your draw time. Proxies can be designated in POSH. See the Application page on this website for more specifics.

Room improvement: Allows juniors and seniors to upgrade their room selection, if they participated in Upperclass Room Draw and if they had draw times in the bottom quarter of their class. To apply for room improvement, complete the application in POSH. See the Post Draw page on this website for more details.

Spelman Draw statistics: The number of applications, breakdowns by class, and weighted ratings of the applications for the last five years of the Spelman Draw. Log in to POSH to view these statistics.

Upperclass limit in four-year Residential Colleges: The number of spaces allocated for rising juniors and seniors in each of the four-year Residential Colleges.

Upperclass limit override in four-year Residential Colleges: Allows a group to select a suite or suites that can accommodate the entire group, even though the number of group members exceeds the number of available spaces allocated to rising juniors and seniors. After its first use, the override is closed to members of the junior or senior classes.

Wait list: A list of students not able to draw rooms, compiled after all available rooms are selected during the Sophomore and Upperclass Room Draws. You may voluntarily place your name on the wait list rather than select a room, although the Undergraduate Student Housing Office recommends that you draw a room if there is availability. Log in to POSH to see the wait list application. See Post Draw page on this website for more details.

Rising Sophomore Room Draw

Rising Sophomores without Advanced Academic Standing

The Residential College where you lived as a freshman will again be home in your sophomore year. You may select or draw for a different room, and you may change your dining contract.

Rising Sophomores with Advanced Academic Standing

As a rising sophomore with advanced standing, you may draw for:

• The Residential College where you resided as a freshman Your application will be weighted according to your original class year, not your advanced standing. You may not use your advanced standing to improve your status for room draw in any of the four-year Residential Colleges.

• Upperclass dorms and Spelman Hall, or draw as an Independent Your application will be weighted with your advanced standing; specific policies apply. If you choose this option, please email the Undergraduate Student Housing Office of your decision no later than the room draw application deadline.

Meal Plans

You will also choose a meal plan contract through Dining Services.

Rising Junior and Senior Room Draw

Five Draw Options

As a rising junior or senior, you have five options to draw for the dormitory and room or suite you want to live in during the next academic year. You may:

• Submit an application to more than one draw. • Submit just one application per draw. • Contract for one room and one dining plan, if applicable.

You will also choose from three dining options: a meal plan contract through Dining Services, membership in an eating club or co-op, or to cook on your own as an Independent.

Option 1: Regular Upperclass Room Draw

All rooms in upperclass dormitories, except those chosen during the Independent Room Draw and those reserved for special needs students and dormitory assistants, are included in regular Upperclass Room Draw.

Rooms in four-year Residential Colleges are also included when upperclass limits for each college have not been met. Residential College rules apply.

Option 2: Four-Year Residential College Room Draw

Rising juniors and seniors may draw for a limited number of rooms in the four-year Butler, Mathey and Whitman Residential Colleges. Availability is dependent on upperclass limits for each college. You:

• May apply for the draw in more than one Residential College. • Must apply for the draw in each Residential College separately. • Must choose a dining contract.

Group draws may include from two to eight members in any number of either gender. Residential College room draw rules apply.

Option 3: Independent Room Draw

Selected rooms near kitchens in each upperclass dormitory are set aside for Independents. At least half of the residents in each room must be Independent and may include any number of either gender.

As an Independent in an upperclass dormitory, you agree to the Independent Pledge on your contract:

Option 4: Spelman Hall Room Draw

Spelman Hall features suites, each with four single bedrooms and a full kitchen, and at least half of the students in each suite must be Independent. If you draw as a group, your group may include four or eight students in any number of either gender.

As an Independent in Spelman Hall, you agree to the Independent Pledge on your contract (see Pledge above at “Option 3: Independent Room Draw.”)

Option 5: Married Student Room Draw

Five four-room suites in Spelman Hall, each with a kitchen, a living room, a bedroom and private bath, are available to upperclass married students. They are suites 31, 33, 42, 62 and 72. There are no undergraduate accommodations for families with children.

Meal Plan Choices

Flexible Plans

Princeton University offers an unlimited meal plan and several block plans. Block plans offer flexibility and are good choices if you eat less than three meals daily on a regular basis.

After selecting your room and depending on the draw you entered, Princeton One Stop Housing (POSH) may prompt you to choose one of the meal plans for the next academic year. If you are required to purchase a meal plan, you must make your choice before you can complete your room selection.

All sophomores:

• Must contract for a meal plan. • May choose from an unlimited meal plan and two block plans.

Juniors and seniors living in a Residential College:

• Must contract for a meal plan. • May choose from an unlimited meal plan, four block plans and a shared plan, if eligible. Shared plans are limited in

all eating clubs. Club leadership determines the number of shared plans to be offered. If, at the time of your draw, there are still shared plans available in your club it will display as an option. If all of the shared plans are accounted for, you can either opt to not draw into a residential college, purchase a block plan in addition to your club membership, or purchase a plan and drop your eating club.

Juniors and seniors living in an upperclass dorm (excluding Independents):

• May contract for a meal plan. • May choose from an unlimited meal plan and four block plans.

Independents

• POSH will not prompt you to select a meal plan.

All upperclassmen may have two free meals per week in any Residential College dining hall.

Academic Year 2015-16 prices

Unlimited Plan - $6240/year

The unlimited plan allows you more than one entry to the residential dining halls during any meal period. It also gives you a single meal for each late meal period, Saturday breakfast at the Frist Campus Center Gallery and ten additional guest meals each semester.

Block 235 - $5990/year

Block 235 allows you 235 meals per semester, or approximately 15 meals per week in any campus dining hall. Ten of the meals may be used for guests. Block 235 meals reset at the beginning of the semester. No credit is given for unused meals.

Block 190 - $5730/year

Block 190 allows you 190 meal swipes per semester, or approximately 13 meals per week in any campus dining hall. Ten of the meals may be used for guests. Block 190 meals reset at the beginning of the semester. No credit is given for unused meals.

Block 95 (juniors and seniors only) - $3435/year

Block 95 allows you 95 meals per semester in any campus dining hall. Ten of the meals may be used for guests. Block 95 meals reset at the beginning of the semester. No credit is given for unused meals.

Shared Block 95 (eating club members only - billed by the club)

If you chose a room in one of the four-year Residential Colleges and are a registered member of an eating club, Shared Block 95 could be for you. It allows for 95 meals per semester in a campus dining hall, 10 of which may be used for guests.

The annual cost is determined by each eating club and the number of participants is limited by the club. You should ask your club leadership for shared meal plan information.

If you want to select the Shared Block 95 plan, submit an application for the Butler, Whitman and/or Mathey College room draws. POSH will allow you to select the shared meal plan for your club, unless the club’s maximum has been reached. At that point the shared plan will no longer be available and POSH will not display it.

Alternatively, you may live in a Residential College and purchase at least the Block 95 meal plan for your college in addition to your eating club’s meal plan. Or, you may choose a room in the regular Upperclass Room Draw and your club’s meal plan.

time, you should consider applying for the Regular Upperclass Room Draw in addition to the Four-year Residential College Draw.

Apply for the Draw

When to Apply

At the beginning of spring semester, the Undergraduate Student Housing Office will send an email to rising students, with dates when room draw guidelines will be posted to the Housing and Real Estate Services website. In mid-February the Undergraduate Student Housing Office will send another email to let you know when to apply for room draw.

• January: Apply for special needs housing • Mid-February: Apply for the Residential College and the Upperclass Room Draws • March/April: Select your room and meal plan • May 1 (deadline): Wait-list applicants

How to Apply

• Decide whether to participate in room draw as an individual, an Independent or with a group. • Log in to Princeton One Stop Housing (POSH) to complete and submit your application. • POSH will generate a summary of your application. • You will receive confirmation of your application in email. If you do not receive confirmation, you have not

submitted your application properly. • Draw times are posted in mid-March.

Princeton One Stop Housing (POSH)

Apply as an Individual

• You apply for a single room. • You are not a member of a group. • You may be an Independent (juniors and seniors only). • Single room availability is not guaranteed at your room selection time.

Apply as an Independent

• Your group may include from two to eight students, and gender may be mixed. • Rooms and suites are gender neutral unless designated mixed gender. • At least 50% of each room must be Independent. • Juniors and seniors only.

Apply as a Group

• Your group may include from two to eight students, and gender may be mixed. • Rooms and suites are gender neutral unless designated mixed gender. • Sophomore groups applying to Wilson College may include up to ten students. • Your group may include Independents (juniors and seniors in the Independent and Spelman Hall Room Draws). • A group leader will initiate your application. • Each group member will receive an email asking for confirmation of his/her acceptance to membership in the group.

Confirmation from all members is required to complete the application and generate a draw time. Only students with completed applications will be able to participate in room selection.

• If a member rejects membership in the group, the application will be invalid. A new application may be submitted before the deadline.

Apply as a Mixed Class Group in the Four-year Residential College, Regular Upperclass and Independent Room Draws

• Your group may include up to four students of mixed class. • At least one member of the upper-most class in your group must reside in each room. • If the upperclass limit is met before your draw, all underclass members will be assigned new draw times within their

class. • If the sole upperclassman in a room or suite cancels his/her contract before the first day of classes, the underclass

members will be moved to a new room or suite.

Apply as a Mixed Class Group in the Spelman Hall Room Draw

• Your group may include four or eight students of mixed class. • Older group members are not required to live in each suite.

How Your Application is Weighted

Your application for each draw is weighted with points based on your class year and whether you apply as an individual, an Independent or as a member of a group. A higher weight allows you an earlier room selection date and time. Applications with equal weights are randomly ordered by a computer program.

Individual applications:

• All rising sophomore applications: 1 point • Individual or group applications:

o Rising juniors: 2 points o Rising seniors: 3 points

• Independent, individual or group applications for the Independent and Spelman Hall Room Draws: o Rising juniors: 4 points o Rising seniors: 5 points

Group applications A weighted average is calculated by adding the points for each member and dividing by the number of members in the group. Group members who apply to their current Residential College add 0.1 point for each year of residence in that college or its paired college.

Room and Meal Plan Selection

When to Select Your Room

Draw times are posted online in mid-March and you will select your room at Princeton One Stop Housing (POSH). You may select throughout the duration of room draw, but you will be competing with other students whose draw times follow yours.

If you log in to POSH fifteen minutes before your draw time, you will be able to view the rooms still available and those selected in the last hour. Look for the available rooms list and the last selected room list. You will not be able to log into the room selection page until your draw time begins. In the Residential College Draws, if the junior and/or senior limits have been reached, rooms will still show on the full available rooms list (these are now reserved for sophomores). However, no rooms will show when you log in for your draw time. You must, at this point, utilize one of your other draw times to secure a room.

How to Select Your Room

On the day and time of your draw, log in to POSH and select your room.

Designate a Proxy

If you are unable to select a room during your draw time, you may designate another student or the Undergraduate Student Housing Office to act as your proxy. Group members may designate a leader to act as a proxy for their whole group. To designate a proxy:

• Log in to POSH and choose "Assign a Proxy" from the menu. • Enter the last name and first name of the student who will be your proxy, or choose the Undergraduate Student

Housing Office option. • Your proxy will be notified by e-mail of your proxy request and will be required to agree to the terms stated. • At your draw time, your proxy will be permitted to log in to POSH to select a room and meal plan, if applicable. • You may overturn your proxy designation at any time by logging into POSH, selecting your proxy designation, and

canceling it before your room draw time.

View Available Rooms in Real Time

Log in to POSH to see rooms still available on the available rooms list which is updated in real time.

Drop Down to a Later Draw Time

You or your proxy may drop down to a later draw time, if it suits your needs or if no available rooms meet the configuration of your group. You will need the number of the group to which you are dropping down. Group numbers are listed in POSH.

Select Your Room at Your Assigned Time

At your draw time, you, your proxy or group leader should log in to POSH to select a room. From that point, you may select throughout the duration of room draw, but keep in mind that you will be competing with other students whose draw times follow yours. Once you select a room, you can not rescind the contract under any circumstances so please choose carefully.

Accept Your Room Choice

Residential College draws

• Select your room. • Choose a meal plan from the list in the dropdown (required). • Click “Accept.” Your room and meal plan contract will display. • Carefully review your contract. Your acceptance is binding and cannot be changed. • Save a copy of your contract.

If you select a room in a substance free area, POSH will prompt you to sign the substance free agreement before you can accept your room and meal plan.

Your Contract

Fulfilling Your Contract

If you select or are assigned living space during room draw and have signed a housing/dining contract electronically, Princeton University expects you to fulfill the terms of your contract for the entire academic year.

Your housing/dining service agreement charges are payable as determined by the Office of Finance & Treasury (loans and receivables). If you fail to pay as agreed, you may be subject to suspension and withholding of your degree and transcripts.

Contract Period

The contract period for University accommodations begins prior to the first week of classes in September.

The contract period ends for freshmen, sophomores and juniors at noon on the Saturday after the last scheduled final exam of the second semester; however, you should plan to vacate your room 24 hours after your last final. The contract period for graduating seniors ends at noon the day after Commencement.

If you occupy your living space after the contract period ends, Housing staff may enter your room, pack your belongings and store them at your expense.

Although the contract you sign is binding for the academic year, you may cancel you agreement without explanation and without penalty through July 15.

The University does recognize that extraordinary circumstances could cause you to terminate your agreement early. If you do have to terminate, complete an intent to vacate form at Princeton One Stop Housing (POSH).

When contracts are canceled after July 15, fees are typically assessed from the date when the Undergraduate Student Housing Office receives your written notice.

If you take a leave of absence or choose to study abroad, you should not rely on the Dean’s Office to provide notification to the Undergraduate Student Housing Office. Be sure to cancel your contract online at POSH.

Cancellation fees

• Through July 15: No penalty • July 16 to August 15: $500 • August 16 to September 15: $1000 • After September 15: 50% of the semester’s rent • After classes have begun or after you have moved into your room, regardless of date: 50% of the semester’s rent

Valid Reasons for Canceling Your Contract

Foreign Study

If you plan to study abroad, complete an intent to vacate form online at POSH.

• Fall participants: no fees apply if you give notice by July 15. • Spring participants: no fees apply if you give notice by January 1.

Spring vacates must leave their rooms by the Sunday before Intersession. No exceptions can be made. Contact the Undergraduate Student Housing Office directly in writing by the July contract cancellation deadline to avoid cancellation fees. Your request should include documentation from the Office of the Dean of the College, supporting your intent to terminate.

Withdrawal

If you voluntarily withdraw from the University in the first two weeks of the semester, you will be billed rent and dining charges by the week. If you withdraw in the third week or after, you will be billed for the entire semester’s rent and dining charges. You must vacate your room within 72 hours of receiving a withdrawal notice. Complete an intent to withdraw form in POSH.

If you are required to withdraw from the University, you will be billed on a pro-rated basis to be determined by the Undergraduate Student Housing Office and the Dean. You must vacate your room within 72 hours of receiving a withdrawal notice.

If you appeal a required withdrawal, you may remain in your room for the duration of the appeal. If the appeal is not overturned, you will be billed rent on a weekly basis for every week or partial week that you occupy the room. You will have 48 hours from the conclusion of the appeal process to remove your belongings.

After you receive permission to terminate your contract, you have 72 hours to vacate your room. At this point, your card access will be terminated. The Undergraduate Student Housing Office may agree to some flexibility in your departure date if your circumstances require it.

If you terminate your agreement to study abroad or to take one semester of advanced standing or a leave of absence, you must vacate your room the Sunday before Intersession at 9 am. If you do not vacate as required, you may forfeit your spring semester housing charges.

Room and Meal Plan Changes Residential College Room Change

To request a room change in a Residential College, contact the Director of Student Life for your college. If your room change request is approved by the college, you will be given a new contract and move instructions. You have 48 hours from the time your request is approved to complete your room change.

Upperclass Room Change

After October 1, you may request a room change. Rules governing room improvement post room draw do not apply, and requests for room changes or singles cannot always be granted. Access Princeton One Stop Housing (POSH) to complete the room change application.

Room Exchanges

You may exchange rooms if all roommates agree. The Associate Director or Manager for Undergraduate Student Housing will speak with the students involved before the exchange can be approved. If you live in a Residential College, your Director of Student Life will approve the exchange. You have 48 hours from the time your request is approved to complete your room exchange.

Dining Contract Changes/Termination

You may decrease your dining contract at the following times. Upperclass students who do not live in a Residential College may terminate their contracts at the following times.

• Fall semester, during the third full week of classes • Spring semester, during the first week of classes

You may upgrade an existing contract any time.

The annual cost is determined by each eating club and the number of participants is limited by the club. You should ask your club leadership for shared meal plan information.

POSH will allow you to select the shared meal plan for your club, unless the club’s maximum has been reached. At that point the shared plan will no longer be available and POSH will not display it.

Alternatively, you may live in a Residential College and purchase at least the Block 95 meal plan for your college in addition to your eating club’s meal plan. Or, you may choose a room in the regular Upperclass Room Draw and your club’s meal plan.

2015 - 2016 Dining Charges for the Academic Year

Wait List

If you are not able to draw a room, after all available rooms are selected during the Sophomore and Upperclass Room Draws, you must apply to the wait list. You may voluntarily place your name on the wait list rather than select a room, although the Undergraduate Student Housing Office recommends that you draw a room if there is availability.

Prioritize Your Room Preferences

On the form, state your room preferences (i.e. suite or single) in priority order, and add a roommate if you want. In the comments section, note your dormitory choice(s), desired square footage and any other items on your wish list.

How the Wait List Is Ordered

Your original room selection time in the Sophomore Room Draw or Upperclass Room Draw determines your rank on the wait list. If you did not enter a draw, your name will be added to the end of the list in the order your application was received.

All wait listed students who apply by the deadline are guaranteed housing, although specific accommodations cannot be guaranteed. Sophomore wait listed students will be assigned to their Residential Colleges by July, and juniors and seniors will be assigned to rooms and suites by early August.

Cancellation fees

If you applied to the wait list, you are subject to the rules and charges that apply to the cancellation of a housing contract. You have two weeks from the time you are notified of your assignment to cancel without penalty. If you cancel after two weeks, a cancellation fee will be charged to your student account. If you cancel after classes have begun, Princeton University reserves the right to charge one half of the semester’s rent.

Juniors and seniors, who participated in Upperclass Room Draw and had draw times in the bottom quarter of their class, may upgrade or “improve” their room selection. If you satisfy both of these conditions, you are eligible for reassignment to a room that becomes available after room draw and before July 1. The Manager of Undergraduate Student Housing will make your reassignment if an appropriate room is available.

If you dropped down to a group in the bottom quarter of your class, you are not eligible for room improvement.

Prioritize Your Preferences

If your group prioritizes square footage over proximity, each group member should complete a separate room improvement form, listing his/her individual requirements. When one member of a suite chooses to improve his/her room, all members of the suite must improve their rooms so that the entire suite can be reassigned.

How Room Improvement Participants Are Ordered

Your original room selection time determines the order in which your room will be improved. If your room improvement criteria can be met, you will be reassigned and notified of your new address by email in mid-July. This reassignment is permanent; you may not revert to your original selection.

If you do not hear from the Undergraduate Student Housing Office by mid-July, your request for room improvement could not be met, and you will remain in your original room selection.

How Vacancies Occur

After room draw, some room selections may be canceled when students decide to study abroad, move off campus or into an eating club, take a leave of absence or are suspended.

Filling a Vacancy in Your Suite Before July 1

If there is a vacancy in your suite before July 1, the Undergraduate Student Housing Office will contact a remaining suite member, who will have one week to fill the space with a student that does not have a housing contract or one who has drawn a single room. If you cannot find a qualified replacement in a week, the Undergraduate Student Housing Office will attempt to fill the vacancy.

To retain your suite, you or the Undergraduate Student Housing Office must fill the vacancy with a replacement that maintains the group’s application weight. Otherwise, the Undergraduate Student Housing Office may move the remaining suite members to a room that is appropriate for that number of people, and reassign the suite to a wait listed group. If all wait listed students have been housed, a returning or readmitted student will be assigned to the vacancy.

Each resident of a suite is entitled to the same rights, and division of space, regardless of when he or she begins occupancy.

Room Switch

Request a Room Switch

If you are an upperclass student, you may request a room switch post room draw by writing to the Manager of Undergraduate Student Housing at [email protected]. If you are a member of a Residential College, contact your college’s office. Room switches are made in late August at the discretion of the Associate Director of Student Housing or Manager of Undergraduate Student Housing and require signed approval.

Rules Apply

To maintain the integrity of the room draw process, rules apply when switching rooms:

• You may only switch rooms that were drawn with the same application weight. • You may switch roommates within a group, but the integrity of the group must remain intact. For example, a mixed

class group must have an older member in the suite. • Students who plan to cancel their contracts may not switch rooms.

1. Students who are performing a service for the University, either at the University, or in the surrounding community. Participants must be verified on the Departmental Confirmation form by the administrator responsible for the organization. Federal Work Study participants doing community service summer projects must have their status verified by the University’s Federal Work Study Coordinator on the Departmental Confirmation form. Students doing internships in the surrounding areas are not eligible for University Housing.

2. Princeton University students who are part of a recognized student organization or team. Summer on-campus residence is dependent upon regular involvement in tasks that relate to the mission of that group.

*A student seeking co-sponsorship for employment (more than one campus job to meet the 35 hours per week requirement) must submit a Departmental Sponsorship form for each sponsor. Each form should indicate the number of hours worked for each sponsor.

Students taking or returning from a voluntary withdrawal or leave of absence must have approval from their Dean and Director of Student Life to be eligible for summer housing. Please note that preparation for MCAT tests IS NOT a qualifying criterion for summer housing.

Special needs accommodations are available to students who can demonstrate a medical necessity for a specific residential environment. You must have a reasonable request to accommodate a chronic or severe medical need with recent supporting documentation from a healthcare provider. Documentation will be reviewed by the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Students.
