    EXT. A BAR AND RESTAURANT - AFTERNOON

    Beginning with a WIDE SHOT of a warm day. ZOOMING INTO thefront of a restaurant, the double doors open and another setof dissatisfied customers leave the premises. The doorsswing shut behind them. Through the expansive windows it is

    clear to see the restaurant is not busy.

    INT. OUTSIDE THE MANAGERS OFFICE/KICHENS

    WIDE SHOT of a dilapidated corridor with two chairs satoutside the Managers door. A clown sits, in cowboy boots,wearing a suit and a boot lace tie, fiddling nervously withhis attire which PEEPS and SQUEAKS with gags. The CLATTERINGof utensil's and BEAST-LIKE roars of the kitchen are LOUD.ZOOMING IN to the Clowns face, a high pitch WHISTLE from acoffee machine sounds.

    EXT. THE RANCH CIRCUS- OVERCAST (FLASHBACK)

    The clown blends into a new background. The WHISTLE evolvesinto the SQUEAK of a large iron gate as it is closed. PITCHUPWARD to reveal the title of the land above the gate. 'THERANCH CIRCUS', across which is printed 'CLOSED DOWN'

    Beat

    There is a SMASH sound.

    INT. OUTSIDE THE MANAGERS OFFICE/KICHENS- AFTERNOON

    Clown jerks back to the present in CLOSE UP in PROFILE,

    surprised. Camera PANS AROUND into an OVER THE SHOULDER ofthe clown. In the kitchen opposite, a waiter stands in shocklooking down at the many smashed plates. Fragments are stillquivering

    WIDE SHOT of the clown shows the managers door fly open witha BANG and the man stalk into the kitchen.

    MANAGER(Barks and shouts) OUT! Out, out,out of my restaurant! You clumsyOAF!!

    View remains on Clown reaction. All is QUIET.

    Beat

    The Manager reappears holding an apron and approaches theclown. The clown stands opposite, the pair in profile,SILENT. The Manager thrusts the apron out to the clown whotentatively takes it. The manager turns and continues backinto his office. SLAMMING the door behind him.

    Beat

    the clown jumps for joy.

    INT. BAR- AFTERNOON

    CLOSE UP of the white apron being tied up. ZOOM OUT to along shot of the clown in a Waiters uniform, admiringhimself.

    INT KICHENS/BAR/RESTAURANT

    LONG SHOT from the kitchen sideboard, the clown turns,balancing seven filled plates on his arms, shoulders andhead. He confidently walks up to camera filling the screen.FADE TO BLACK

    ZOOM OUT of clown's back to reveal him at one end of the barin a WIDE SHOT. He holds a Syphon, accidentally squirting

    himself before filling the glasses at the other end of thebar. A waiter obscures the foreground.

    LONG SHOT of clown beside a table, across the room from thebar. He lasso's a drink from the edge of the bar to thetable.

    INT MANAGERS OFFICE

    MEDIUM SHOT of manager looking at a chart of profit on hisdesk. He looks up displeased.

    A WIDE SHOT, OVER THE HEAD of the manager through the open

    door, frames the kitchen. The clown can be seen bumbling inand out. The manager stands and walks over SLAMMMING thedoor. A poster of a critic FLAPS in the breeze

    INT KITCHENS/RESAURANT

    ZOOM through the closed door into the kitchen. Fix on aCLOSE UP of an identical poster on the wall. The clown turnsaway from the Kitchen sideboard.

    Beat.

    The poster FLAPS with the opening restaurant door. The door

    hits the clown in the face before he walks through. CAMERATRACKS the clown and evolves into an OVER THE SHOULDER as hepasses tables. He stops in front of the critic to take herorder.

    INT RESTAURANT- CRITICS TABLE

    LONG SHOT encompasses the clown and critic at her table.

    CRITICI would like some water please.

    CLOWN(Graciously) Of course madam.

    The clown flicks his lasso off screen and tugs. A jug fliesback into his hand. He leans forward and pinches the floweron his lapel, squirting water into the jug. The criticseyebrow rises. The clown lifts the jug and pours the lady aglass of water.

    INT RESTAURANT- FAMILY TABLE

    LONG SHOT looking back to the clown and the critic at theother end of the aisle. LOW ANGLE as a child knocks hiscutlery off the table. The Clown whips his lasso, catchingthe cutlery, flicking it.

    A HIGH ANGLE SHOT, shows the cutlery accidentally spearinginto the ceiling. The critic smirks.

    INT RESTAURANT DOOR

    LONG SHOT as manager pushes into restaurant area from thekitchen

    OVER THE SHOULDER shot of the manager as he surveys therestaurant, PANNING with his head movements left and right.Jar's to a stop on spotting the critic and ZOOMS IN to focuson the critic's table

    INT RESTAURANT AISLE

    LONG SHOT of the clown stood in the middle of the tableslassoing in the dirty plates onto one trolley. He shunts itout of shot with his hip.

    INT RESTAURANT DOOR

    ZOOM into a CLOSE UP of the managers sheer horror

    INT RESTAURANT AISLE

    MEDIUM SHOT of a puddings trolley in profile. The clowns

    lasso flies in screen left latching onto a sundae and pullsit back. This repeats several times.

    LONG SHOT of the clown in between tables, receiving thesundae's he is roping in and throwing them onto the tableseither side of him.

    CLOSE UP of the critic as she starts to smile.

    CLOSE UP of the manager as his face contorts into a look ofrage.

    INT CRITICS TABLE

    A LONG SHOT shows the critic reading the menu and the clown

    ready to take her order

    CRITICI should like the cheesecake.

    CLOWNCertainly madam.

    The Clown flicks his lasso off screen left, gives it a tug.Flying back with it comes an entire cheesecake which theclown catches and presents to the critic who smiles wholly.

    IN RESTAURANT AISLE

    OVER THE SHOULDER of the Manager the clown can be seen atthe critics table handing over a slice of the cheesecake,not too far away.

    MANAGER(Cries furiously)What on EARTH doyou think you are doing!

    The clown jumps and throws his hands and the cheesecake intothe air. Turning to face the manager

    ZOOMING IN to a CLOSE UP of the managers enraged expression.

    Beat

    The cheesecake lands, cheese side down on his head.

    Beat

    The cutlery from the ceiling follow shortly, embedding intothe cheesecake.

    INT CRITICS TABLE

    A WIDE SHOT encompasses the table and the aisle with thefurious manager. The critic has finished her cheesecake. Shestands and lays a generous tip on the table before walkingpast the clown and the manager to the door in thebackground. There is a long frozen pause.

    EXT A BAR AND RESTAURANT-EVENING

    LOW ANGLE SHOT of the front double doors as the clown isshoved through them, falling face down. The manager standsabove the clown holding the apron.

    Beat

    The door shuts. Clown sit up.

    WIDE SHOT of restaurant the clown stands and after a beatwalks off screen right.

    INT. MANAGERS OFFICE- DAY

    OVER THE SHOULDER as the manager opens a newspaper,revealing the column of the critic.

    CLOSE UPS of her praising words on the clown and therestaurant.

    CLOSE UP of the managers softening expression. A medium shotOVER THE SHOULDER of the manager shows him standing and aPITCH SHOT tracks his rise as he hurries to his door,throwing it open and closing it behind him. There is a pause

    the camera focused on his closed door.

    TIME LAPSE, the office darkens. Camera ZOOMS through thedoor into the restaurant.

    INT. RESTAURANT

    CAMERA LIFTS to look down over a thoroughly busy restaurantand the waiters/waitresses are all entertainers.

    MEDIUM SHOT of a magician lifting his top hat and revealinga huge sundae

    MEDIUM SHOT of jugglers throwing bottles around in the barMEDIUM SHOT and ZOOMING IN to the clown as he lasso'ssomething screen left. He pulls and it is the siling managerhe has caught.

    EXT. BAR AND RESTAURANT-EVENING

    An AERIAL SHOT of the restaurant shows it is surrounded bycars and with a queue of people stretching out of the doorand down the street.

    CAMERA RISES and FADES TO BLACK
