Dear Diary,I’m Rory Anne Reynolds, or now Rory AnneFletcher-Reynolds.

My mother just remarried, a guy who workedwith her. My mother is a CEO of a big companyin New York City. NYC is my hometown, I grewup there. I hung out with my friends in CentralPark, and the hot dog stands were always aneasy stop for lunch. My mother married a guynamed Farley (Yeah, even he thinks that his

name is geeky ), he’s nice, and all, but he’s notmy father.My father remarried a woman named Karen, 5years ago. I met her twice, she’s quite a niceperson. She’s witty, and funny, she has 3 kids,and a dog named Fido.But back to the main topic, my motherremarried. Her and Farley ( because of their

work) have to move to China. Since I did notwant to move to China with them, I decided tospend a couple months or years with my Fatherin Long Beach, Oregon. My father comes tovisit us in New York twice a year, for a week. I



never get to spend much time with him, andthis seemed perfect. I’m on the plane to LongBeach right now. Well, sort of. I had to take a

flight to Portland, and then we drive down toLong Beach. I can’t wait to see my father,Karen, I don’t mind meeting. But I’m reallynervous about meeting her kids. 16 year oldCody, 7 year old Megan, and 2 year old Tyson.What will they think of this newcomerintroduced in their family? I had seen thembefore (at my father’s wedding), but not talkedto them, so I really didn’t know them. I sawKaren, Cody, and Megan almost 5 years ago atthe wedding (Tyson wasn’t born yet). Cody was11 and and Megan was 2. All I rememberclearly was Cody complaining that theceremony was taking too long, and Megan wasdrooling on Karen’s wedding dress. No offense

to Karen, but her kids (at that time) were abunch of brats. They didn’t seem happy at all,for their mother, or my father. They seemed tocare about getting what they wanted.

, . .unusually for Oregon and it was humid She took this as a good omen She got lost in thought

, , .“Attention all passengers the flight has landed and it is now time to board off the plane Please

, .exit in a friendly fashion and make sure to take all of your belongings We will board off the

, .Rory got up she noticed she was one of the few people still scattered in the plane The rush of

, .the crowd had already left so she just quickly walked out of the plane and into the airport She

.walked down the long walkway where the people waiting for the arrivals were She suddenly

, . ,saw them scattered in the crowd There was a man with brown hair and sparkling blue eyes

. , ,went crazy over Then a short small little girl stood next to him she was holding onto his

. .sleeve She had brown hair that flowed down her back in wisps and curls Her dad suddenly

. ,turned around and almost ran to the entrance Her dad gave her a one armed hug and asked

. .her how her flight was She watched the face of the rest of her new family Karen opened her

, , . The drive to Long Beach took an hour and during the drive no one said a word I sat in the

, . . .large warm inviting living room She gave me a tour of the whole house It was large Each kid

. , .had a bedroom of their own And there was two now one guest bedrooms Not including an

, , , , . ,office a den kitchen large backyard and a pool When she showed me the pool my heart

, . .sank I’d always had a fear of water and drowning When I “swam” I looked like a drowning cat

,I knew that at some point they were going to go swimming and I would come out looking like a

. .fool Karen looked curiously at my expression when she showed me the pool She said nothing

, .already gotten my bags out of the car and left them in the upstairs hallway She smiled
