The PlantRose Packing is constantly striving to improve production standards so the customer can be assured of receiving only the highest quality products.

Ever-improving technology, a strong HACCP program and a dedicated work force are the elements that provide our cus-tomers with the finest fresh, smoked, and processed meats available.

The FreezerFinished product is shipped world-wide directly to our cus-tomers from Ashland Cold Storage, a sister company of Rose Packing. Ashland is the largest single-story cold storage facility in Chicago, handling up to 40 million pounds of product. It has the ability to certify fresh product and blast freeze to -30 degrees Fahrenheit (-34 centigrade). Standard freezer storage is main-tained at -15 degrees Fahrenheit (-26 centigrade) and cooler storage is maintained at +30 degrees Fahrenheit (-1 centigrade).

When Louis Rose opened Rose Packing in 1924, he could not have known that he was creating a legacy that would endure through five generations of the Rose family.

From its modest beginnings as a boning house specializing in beef and pork trimming for the sausage industry, Rose Packing has grown to include a Chicago production facility of over 200,000 square feet, corporate offices in Barrington, Illinois, and more than 700 employees. Rose prides itself on satis-fied customers in both the domestic and internationalmarket. For 90 years Rose Packing’s steady, consistentgrowth has been based on a firm foundation of superb quality and uncompromising service . . . just like Louis Rose wanted it to be. Louis Rose’s two sons, Greg (1897-1967) and Bill (W.A.) (1898-1985) worked with their father for many years, learning the business and absorbing first-hand the senior Rose’s business methods and philosophies. On Louis’ death in 1934, Greg and W.A. became co-owners of Rose Packing.

In 1942 the Rose brothers purchased a hog slaughter-ing plant in Danville, Illinois and Greg moved to Danville to oversee that facility. W.A. remained in Chicago, supervising sales and processing, which by then had moved to a new and larger location. By this time

Rose Packing had developed a national reputation for pork processing and had begun processing its own brand of Canadian Style Bacon. To this day Canadian Style Bacon is the premier item in the product line. Changes in the family business were inevitable. In 1947, W.A. bought his brother Greg’s share of the company. W.A.’s vision steered Rose Packing through the uncertain, yet promising business climate of the late 1940’s and into the 50’s. W.A.’s son, William R. Rose (W.R.) joined the company on a full-time basis in 1949. W.R. worked in the plant during the summers of his young life and developed a keen sense for the business. His background in engineering, helped lead Rose Packing into the modern technological era. W.R. introduced new and innovative methods of production to the company. It was under W.R.’s guidance that the present production facility was built, in 1957, on the Southwest side of Chicago. W.R. moved the administration and sales department to Barrington,

Illinois, in 1973. Since that time, the customer base has expanded to a global market. Rose Packing’s product line has kept pace with customer demand for pro-cessed pork products. In addition to Canadian Style Bacon, Rose produces a full line of raw and fully cooked pork sausage, ethnic sausages and back ribs. Rose also offers a complete line of bone-in and bone-less ham, including spiral sliced, plus smoked pork shoulder butts and sectioned and formed processed pork. Fresh and fresh frozen boneless backs, pork roasts and pork tenderloins, complete the product mix. The legacy begun by Louis Rose continues as strongly as ever into the next century... and the coming genera-tions. Current management, including both the 4th

and 5th generation family members are responsible for carrying on the tradition of excellence on which Rose Packing has built its reputation in both the domestic and international marketplace. Rose Packing has successfully grown under the steady guidance and vision of the Rose family. Yet the company has never lost sight of its mission, which is an unwavering commitment to its customers. Providing the finest product and uncompromising service has always been Rose Packing’s goal.
