Fortraditionalinstallations,twoseparate4-20mAsignalsareusedasoutputsforthistransmitter.Thetwoindependent4-20mAsignalsareusedfortheoxygenmeasurementandcombusti-blesmeasurement.Theyarefullyfield-scalabletoeachprocessesrequirement.IftheFieldbusoptionischosen,allinformationistransmittedviatheFieldbusH1datahighwayoverasingletwistedpairofwires,thusreducinginstallationcosts.Thedevicecanbeconfiguredforgeneralpurposeinstallationsorhazardousarealocations.ThehazardousarearatingsareCSA/FMClass1,Zone1forNorthAmericaandATEXII2GExdfortheEuropeancommunity,andIECExforallotherworldareas.
TheOCXextendsitsPlantweb®connectivitybyaddingoptionalFieldbuscapabilitytothetraditionalHARTbasedprotocol.FieldbusandHARTprotocolsareaccessibleviaaModel475FieldCommunicator.HARTcanadditionallybeaccessedthroughaPC-basedsystemusingAMSsoftware.TheflexibilityofFieldbusorHARToptionsenablesEmerson’sPlantweb®customerstousefield-basedarchitecture.Thismakesiteasierfortechnicianstoviewalldiagnosticandoperationalparametersfromanylocationwhereanon-linePCisrunningwithAMSand/oraFieldbuscapableDistributedControlSystem(DCS).Thisreducesbothcommissioning/start-uptimeaswellasdown-timeduetotroubleshootingtheanalyzer.Thelocaloperatorinterface(LOI)isavacuumfluorescentdisplayandiseasiertoseethananLCD.ThismakeslocalsetupthroughtheLOIeasierandalsopermitsvisibilitytodiagnosticswithoutaModel475FieldCommuni-cator.TheOCX8800alsohasaconfigurablerelayoutputforalarms.
Thesensorsareclose-coupledtotheprocessforminimalsamplehandlingrequirements.Aneductordrawsasamplepastthefilterinthesampleblockandpastthesensors,thenreturnsittotheprocess.ThesampleblockfilteriseasilymaintainedandaccessiblerightattheOCXflange.Thereareseveralnewoptionalin-situfiltersgivingabroadervarietyofapplicationoptions.Thesampletubeandin-situfilterhasanoptionalblowbackcapabilityforprocesseswithhighparticulate.Dilutionairisaddedinthecombustiblesensorchambertomaintainatruecombustiblesmeasurementevenintheabsenceofoxygenintheprocess.Thisfeatureallowsmeasurementstobemadewhilecertainupsetconditionsexistsuchasburnerfouling,processtubeleaks,majorvaria-tionsinfuelBTUvaluesandlossofflame.

TheOCX8800isfullyfield-repairable.Theprobe’sdesignprovidesconvenientaccesstointernalprobecomponentsandelectronicssotechnicianscanservicetheunitin-house.Thesensingcellandheater/thermocouplearefullyfield-replaceable.Weoffersampleprobesindifferentmaterialsandlengthsupto9feetforfluegastemperaturesupto2600°F(1427°C).
Theelectronicscanbeattachedtothesensorhousingorseparatelytoprovideaconvenientlocationfortheelectronicsandoperatorinterfaceforintegralmountedinstallations.Wehavebuilttheoxygen/combustiblesmeasurementaroundthetime-provenOxymitterIn-SituOxygenTransmitteroxygencellandaddedacombustiblesmeasurementwithdilutionair.Thismeansthecombustiblesmeasurementisvalidwithorwithoutoxygeninthefluegasstreamandisextremelyusefulinreduc-ingconditions.Thissituationisidealforoptimizationofyourfuel/airratioorindicationofyourcombustionprocessfromasafetystandpoint.
