Rotary Club of Los Gatos Sponsors Crabfest Fundraiser

The former Mayor of Los Gatos, California, Steve Rice has spent more than three decades as a financial advisor in private practice. In addition to his mayoral service, Stephen Rice has led area civic and professional groups such as the Santa Clara County Estate Planning Council and NAIFA Silicon Valley. Steve Rice is also the past president of the Rotary Club of Los Gatos.

Founded in 1924, the Rotary Club of Los Gatos supports the larger mission of Rotary International by supporting both the local community and the larger worldwide population through humanitarian programs and outreach. Each year, the Rotary Club holds fundraising events to support area educational and charitable organizations. One of its more popular events is the annual Crabfest.

Held each January, Crabfest raises money for local organizations through an all-you-can-eat crab dinner and auction. The 2014 event, which featured fresh cold crab and locally made clam chowder, raised money for a range of community groups, including Boy Scout Troop 2, area high school scholarships, and a homeless outreach program. The Rotary Club partnered with local and national companies such as Whole Foods and 95.3 KRTY to host the event.
