Council Members:

The Rotary Club ofOshawa prides itself on being involved in the community in which we work, live, and operate. The City ofOshawa has laid a strong foundation for an event that can and will attract positive attention to our growing City, and potentially bring an economical boost to the downtown core as well. We would like to request the opportunity to deliver a short power point presentation to you on May 7, 2015 at your 9:30 am meeting.

The event we are referring to is the Walk ofFame. Our Club, The Rotary Club ofOshawa, with the Council's support and assistance, would love to resurrect this event and showcase our amazing city. The purpose of this event is to honour the past and inspire the future by acknowledging the achievements and successes of those who have made a significant contribution to life in Oshawa.

. ' Jn 2009 the Oshawa Walk ofFame Committee changed its focus to partner with charitable event. We truly understand the time and effort that goes into running an event of this magnitude and respect that Council Members and City staff are busy continuing to grow and improve the neighborhoods.

Because ofthis, we would like an opportunity to present our plan to resurrect this community­highlighting event to Council and continue to support the positive foundation already laid by your hard work.

Resurrecting this important event will

• generate civic pride and positive community spirit; • create local heroes as role models for Oshawa's youth; and • promote Oshawa as a city with deep connections and roots, and as an ideal place to live,

work, or start a business.

Why are we the right group to take this on? Rotary is an international cJub built on membership

from community leaders who work together to create positive, lasting change in their communities and around the world. I know that this foundation matches that ofCouncil as well.
