Previous Meetings
Our meeting on 8 December featured Brenley Milsom Senior from the Rotary Club of Burleigh Heads, Qld. speaking on his club’s RAWCS project in East Timor.
Brenley was accompanied by his wife, Sue and were introduced by our Brenley.
We had a magnificent attendance of 27 members.
Timor was colonized by Portugal in 1515 and was oc-cupied by the Japanese during WW2. Portugal left Timor to its independence in the 1970’s and was oc-cupied by Indonesia in 1975. Indonesian occupation ceased in 2002 and when their troops withdrew, what is now East Timor was left devastated.
Although Dili is within a 50 minute flight from Darwin, the people of East Timor remain in poverty and many of the children are malnourished. Many buildings re-main in ruins. The RAWCS project that Brenley and his club are in-volved with is to rebuild the Junior High School at Ossu and to equip that school as well as construct a boarding house “orphanage” at Ossu.
Construction is expected to start early in 2016 with funding coming from Catholic parishes in Germany, Spain and Burleigh Heads as well as through the Ro-tary Club of Burleigh Heads.
Our meeting of 15 December was the AGM of the club where the club board for the 2016-2017 Rotary year was elected.
Congratulations go to President-elect Mark Thomas on doing his “homework” and having nominations for all positions established prior to the meeting.
Congratulations also to Rob Harding on his appoint-ment as President-elect nominee to take on the role as Club President in 2017-2018.
A list of other future Board members is shown on page 3.

Kids of Cusco
PP Trevor McGuirk (RC Stirling), writes to thank us for our continued support for the “Kids of Cusco” project in Peru which he and his wife Andrea have so pas-sionately supported over many years. Our most recent donation will fund more learning resources to the schools in these remote areas of Peru. The photo below shows Terry with the children of Quishuarani.
Doris, Terry’s worker in Peru, also emailed the following to Terry before Christmas after distributing gifts to the children on behalf of the project.
