Majestic Governor’s Messages

3 GML 2011 - 2012

Your Majesties:

It's November 2011. That means that I have finished all (but two) of my governor's visits. The two remaining has a club president that is still in the United States, and another one who is missing for undisclosed rea-sons. Hopefully, I will be able to complete these two remaining visits be-fore the end of the calendar year.

Remember to send your updates to your membership composed of all your new inductees. We'd like to have updated figures in time for the November 8, 2011 TRF Annual Giving Dinner where we will have PRIP and TRF Chair-Elect Wilfred "Wilf" Wilkinson as Guest of Honor. And speaking of TRF, try to send your updated TRF contributions this week. According to SDG Manny Reyes, we could hit $400,000.00 by next week if we all work on it. So please do your share.

Nothing will keep us from our destiny!

We've decided to ramp up our TRF campaign. In the past, the Raffy Garcia Challenge has offered Paul Har-ris Fellows for only $500. Thus, for a contribution of only $500, you would receive 500 matching points so that you can become a Paul Harris Fellow for just the $500 that you gave.

But what about those who are already sustaining Paul Harris Fellows, meaning that you had already given some amount but not yet a cumulative of $1,000. In the past, we had required a minimum $500 contribution. But this time, we will accept 50% of whatever amount you need to become a Paul Harris Fellow and we will match your contribution with equivalent points to make you a Paul Harris Fellow.

For Example: You have given $400 to TRF. You only need $600 to become a Paul Harris Fellow. If you give $300, we will match it with 300 points to make you a Paul Harris Fellow!

NOTE THAT THIS OFFER IS ONLY VALID FOR THE MONTH OF DECEMBER (DECEMBER 1-31, 2011) AND ONLY FOR FIRST TIME PAUL HARRIS FELLOWS.

Announce this to all your club members and ratchet up your TRF contribution campaign.

YHSL

DG RAFAEL M. GARCIA III

Fellow Rotarians

Now’s the time to learn about what the Foundation doesNovember is Rotary Foundation Month, and I hope you’ll focus on the Foundation with your club speakers and programs. How can our newer Rotarians understand the Foundation if we do not tell them what it is and what it does?We are often not good communicators in Rotary, which is strange as we are business and com-munity leaders. Maybe it is information overload or too much sport on television, but Rotary information is not a high priority for many Rotarians. For example, how would you answer these questions: Is there an Ambassadorial Scholar in our district? What is this Future Vision Plan, and what does it mean for our club? What do we need to know about polio eradication, other than that it makes us feel good? What is the difference between Group Study Exchange and vocational training teams? I hear the words Every Rotarian, Every Year. What is that about? How can The Rotary Foundation support our club’s desire to help people outside our community? What are Rotarians doing on issues such as HIV/AIDS and water and sanitation? Nobody in my club reads the Foundation annual report. Where does the money go? What is our relationship with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation? The list of questions could go on, but the real question is, “What is our club doing to learn more about our Rotary Foundation?” If the answer is “not enough,” now might be a very good time to start. DISTRICT 3800 The Rotary Foundation BanquetCP Marilou Co / RC San Juan del Monte

The generous Contributors and Friends of The Rotary Foun-dation of RI District 3800 showed up in full force at The Ro-tary Foundation Banquet held at the Grand Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Manila Galleria last Nov. 8th. Bedecked in their very elegant formal black suits and long gowns, Rotarians and their spouses enthusiastically showered their support and appreciation for The Rotary Foundation. When the host club, RC San Juan del Monte started planning for this major district event, their initial estimate was 200 to 230 attendees. As the appointed date drew nearer, the esti-mate was revised upward to 250 to 300 and then again to 300 to 350. However the actual number of attendees far exceeded the initial estimate – a total of almost 400 joined DG Raffy and DGL Minda at The Rotary Foundation Banquet. Dinner was promptly served at six as per schedule. However, the start of the program was somewhat delayed because the Guest of Honor was held up by heavy traffic coming from Makati. It begun in earnest as soon as he got settled down.

The emcee, SDG Marilou Co, saw to it that the program run smoothly and without any undue delay because of the large number of honorees and guests. The Majestic and Global Teams made their presence felt. Incumbent Governors and Past District Governors from other Districts led by PRID Paeng Hechanova and PRID lady Mely graced the occasion. All the Past District Governors, DGE, DGN and almost all the PDGLs of our District were present to show their suupport. What lent more interest in the affair was the fact that DG Raf-fy was able to invite PRIP / TRF Chair - elect Wilfrid J. Wilkin-son from Canada, as the guest of honor. His address which stressed the importance of TRF and the need for continuing support for it, was enthusiastically applauded. Certificates and awards for both the Rotary Clubs and the in-dividual donors last Rotary Year were not received on time. Global DG Virgilio Farcon Jr. awarded them after the speech of the guest of honor. Assisted by PDG Efren de Guzman and PDG Marcos Hermoso, the following were acknowledged and awarded by IPDG Jun: EREY clubs, 100% Sustaining Mem-ber Clubs, top 3 Per Capita Clubs, New Paul Harris Fellow and Major Donor. This was followed by the recognition of the Raffy Garcia Chal-lenge Honorees by DG Rafael Garcia III with PDG Ferdinand Fuentes and PDG Fabio Enriquez.. The highlight and most important part of the of the evening was the acknowledgement of the TRF Honorees for RY 2011-2012. They are the New PHFs, New Multiple PHFs, New Bene-

factors, New PH Society Members , Major Donors and Arch Klumph Society Member. District Chair for Annual Gift Giving, SDG Manny Reyes and Rotary Foundation Banquet Chair, SDG Marilou Co, took turns in calling up to the stage each Honoree. The pinning and the awarding was done by PRIP Wilfrid Wilkinson himself with the assistance of DG Raffy Garcia. SDG Manny Reyes, the hardworking AGG Chair, reported an unprecedented US$365,000 contribu-tion to TRF with the next US$ 135,000 com-ing up in the next few months. The following contribu-tors were honored that night. Below is the list-ing of the Major Donors NEW MAJOR DONORS, LEVEL 1PDG Ferdinand Fuentes and CP Praxedes Y. Tan. F. ARCH KLUMPH SOCIETY MEMBER, TRUSTEES CIRCLE DG Rafael M. Garcia III The most significant moment of the night was the conferment by PRIP Wilfrid of the high-est award ever given to anyone in our district – The Arch Klumph So-ciety Member ,Trustees Circle, to DG Rafael M. Garcia III. This award is given by TRF to one who has contributed at least US$250,000.

To all our Fellow Rotarians:

Please accept my sincerest THANK YOU for making the TRF Banquet a great success - from the Annual Gift Giving Committee.

It was a great event marked with the fullest cooperation of everyone - from generous donors such as the new Paul Harris Fellows, Multiple Paul Harris Fellows, Benefactors, Paul Harris Society Members, Major Donors and especially to our AKS Member - DG Raffy and family. I also want to make special mention of regular Rotarians who are simply Sustaining Members who attended the event to witness their Club Presidents and/or their clubs to be recognized/honored for their generous gifts to the Foundation. Result? - a well attended and successful banquet.

I also want to thank the host club - R.C. San Juan Del Monte - for their careful/meticulous and endless planning to ensure a great night for everyone headed by SDG/CP Marilou Co and her committee members who, in their beautiful gowns and gentlemanly attire, manned the tables to welcome you all.

Thank you for bearing with us despite the little flaws as there were endless 11th hour pahabols - even at the main event itself - you can see them coming to the stage and whispering more names and contributions. It was a great pity though that we could no longer include them in the program or registration documents as it was simply impossible to do. Nevertheless however, I did my best to make sure that they were called on stage to be honored and acknowledged for their gifts.

I shall now remit all the contributions I have received for your gifts to be properly recorded and for your phf regalia to be shipped soonest. To those who made pledges, I shall appreciate very much receiving your pledges/commitments at the earliest possible time so they can be posted before 2012 ends.

Meanwhile, we now head for the next phase of our task: to make your Clubs EREY Clubs - a requirement to receive a Presiden-tial Citation from R.I. Documentation of an EREY Club is not that easy. I have just discovered several errors in the case of the 8 clubs that were denied EREY status last RY so let us be careful this RY. If you have any inquiries, let me know now BEFORE YOU MAKE ANY PAYMENTS TO TRF. If you ask me questions or request for help AFTER your gift has been received by the Foundation, there is a very, very small chance that I can be of assistance. Once a gift has been received and recorded, it simply cannot be juggled around. So be careful, think and ask First before you make any contributions, lest you regret it. Better still, bring your payments to TRF to my office and I shall make the task easier for you all.

Remember that I am always at your service. It was a great privilege to honor you all for your valued gifts to the Foundation.\

Thank you once again.

AGG Chair Manny Reyes

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Your Majesties:

The following is the latest RRFC Zone 7A November 2011 Newsletter. Remember, November is Rotary Foundation Month. Our own Annual Giving Dinner is on November 8, 2011 with PRIP Wilfrid "Wilf" Wilkinson as our Guest of Honor. Read Page 2 of the Newsletter and rejoice at our achievement! Not only are we leading Zone 7A, we clobbered them with total annual giving of $298,306. In actuality, we have exceeded $350,000 to-date thanks to your generosity.

Let us go, Your Majesties!

NOTHING WILL KEEP US FROM OUR DESTINY!WE WILL MAKE ROTARY HISTORY!

YOUR HUMBLE SERVANT LEADER

DG RAFFY GARCIA II

Subject: RRFC Zone 7A November 2011 Newsletter

Dear Rotary leaders, I am sending the attached RRFC November 2011 newsletter for Zone 7A. The article summarizes the Zone 7A perfor-mance as of November 5, 2011 and hopefully it will serve as a guide. The figures shown reflect the actual figures in the Rotary website. These may differ from your actual figures because of the time lag between the actual deposit to the posting of collections in Evanston. (Bank deposits and ORs pass through Phil. Consulting, to Australia, then to Evanston). The newsletter also features " A Look at the Future Vision Pilot's First Year". I would like to thank all of you especially District 3800 and DG Raffy Garcia, the latest member of the Arch Klumph Society, for the very much improved annual giving figures(as compared to September 30). Should you have questions, please do not hesitate to let me know. Best regards. Bobby Viray

ANNOUNCEMENTS

To All Global Presidents:

Please pass on this good news to your Rotary Clubs - a special offer to be a new PHF this coming month, December.

The special promo offer is only for sustaining members who are not yet PHFs. It is being targetted to Sustaining Members - those who have already contibuted some amount to TRF. For example: member A already has a contribution of USD of USD 700.00 and only needs $300 to be a PHF. This member only needs to give 50% of his balance which is USD 150.00 and we will give him 150 points to be a new PHF. Or a member has USD 300.00 to his credit and needs to give another USD 700 to be a PHF. All that needs to be done here is for this member to give USD 350.00 and not $700 to be a new PHF. We would then give him 350 points to fill up the difference.

SPREAD THE WORD! Only for Sustaining Members who wish to be new PHFs for the month of December only. This special offer will definitely increase the number of PHFs in your club and who knows- your club might qualify as a 100% PHF club just because of this.

To all Immediate and Currrent Assistant Governors; Deputy District Governors and Senior Assistant Governors - please help your clubs.

YIR,

Manny Reyes

Dear Majestic Team, Bowlers, and Friends:

I want to thank you for your participation; coming weekly and carrying out to finals yesterday the 2011 District 3800 Tenpin Bowling Tournament.

Congratulations to the winners and the Champions of each six classifications. RC Valenzuela West was awesome in the Finals and worthy of the recognition as the Governor's Cup champion. ( Please click on this link for the complete list of winners: http://bit.ly/v6AcKk )

I know how much effort went into every Sunday morning of bowling and I know that in our six weeks of exciting and fun games, it gave everyone the opportunity to meet new faces and renew old friendships in the District and that made this event more important to most of us. Some of you came with your kids and familiy members which brought a level of hap-piness to the host club too.

I am incredibly proud that we were able to contribute to the District with this hosting, and I hope you all are as well with your participation. Thank you! Yours in Rotary,

Congratulations to this year's Masters' Champions!

MARK FRANCISCO of RC LAKESHORE RIZAL and LIZA ZA-PANTA of RC METRO EAST TAYTAY won the Men’s and La-dies’ Master titles respectively. MANING VILLANUEVA of RC WACK WACK topped the Associate Master as the Dis-trict 3800 Tenpin Bowling Tournament got underway Sun-day at StarMall EDSA. [You may see the complete result at http://bit.ly/sM3nk1 ]

Their paths to victory were different. Clos-ing games of 234 and 226 p r o p e l l e d Mark Francisco into the lead, besting the top qualifiers of this year’s District 3800 Tenpin Tour-nament. Liza Zapanta’s strong opening games of 171 and 183 gave her enough cushions against the impressive fin-ish of the runner-ups. Associate Masters Champion Man-ing Villanueva turned in better scores from game one up to the next.
