History

• 1999 – Russian Leadership Pilot program (RLP) for young Russian leaders is established

• 2000 – RLP acquires permanent status• 2001 – Open World Leadership Center is

established and program renamed• 2002-present – Open World Program for the

Russian Federation leaders• 2003 – Pilot programs launched for

– Lithuania, Ukraine and Uzbekistan– Cultural leaders from the Russian Federation

Open World & Rotary

• 1999-2004 nearly 2,000 OW delegates hosted by US Rotary clubs– Overall, Open World hosted 8,800 leaders

• Rotary clubs in 44 states and Washington, D.C. hosted OW delegations

• 70 Rotarians from Russia participated in the program as OW delegates

• Rotary clubs in Russia and OW Alumni work together on joint projects

• Nominated by American and Russian NGOs (non-governmental organizations)

• Young professionals and emerging leaders– Age: 20-s to late 40-s

– Locations: from all 89 regions of the Russian Federation
