Rotary Soot Blower MS-50E With the MS-50E Rotary Soot Blower from MidSouth Power Equipment Company, you can keep your equipment in top operating condition by cleaning harmful soot from convection surfaces of packaged or field-erected industrial boilers where the temperature does not exceed 1800 F. The MS-50E is a duplicate of the Copes-Vulcan D5-E Rotary Soot Blower. All parts are interchangeable. Easy to Operate The element is mounted in the boiler supported by element bearings attached to the boiler tubes. The nozzles are designed specifically for each application. The unit’s electric drive motor rotates the element through the bull-and-pinion gear in a full 360- degree arc about its axial center line. Rotation is normally clockwise at 2 rpm. A mechanically cam operated valve in the head controls the blowing medium admission. Pre-selected cams mounted on the bull gear regulate the blowing sweeps. During the blowing cycle the poppet valve is mechanically held open. After completion of the blowing sweep the valve automatically closes. The MS-50E is automatically self controlled after initiation from a start signal. The proper stop point is determined by the limit switch which is positively driven by the bull gear to eliminate the possibility of phase shifting between the blowing arc and the rotary blower stop position. Two Operating Modes The MS-50E is designed for either individual operation or for use in a sequential system. Models with the suffix “S” allow the sequencing operation, where each blower completes the cleaning cycle in a selected sequence. When all of the blowers have cycled, the unit automatically shuts down. The MS-50ES is also easy to operate, since only the first blower needs to be started. Extends the Life of Your Equipment With the MS-50E blower, your boilers are protected from corrosive furnace gases by a scavenging air check valve that comes as standard equipment on all units. For pressurized furnaces, the blower contains a purging air line connected to the scavenging valve that uses higher pressure than the furnace to remove harmful gases. Easy to Maintain It’s easy to remove the MS-50E blowing element if it needs to be inspected or replaced. The element is attached by a flange, and the head is attached to the wall box by three jack studs. Operators simply remove the nuts from the jack studs and lift the head out, then slide the element out. No special tools are needed. Blowing pressures are adjusted easily by loosening the lock nut and turning the set screw in a clockwise direction. A pressure gauge can also be installed on the head of the unit if you need to determine the exact blowing pressure. With the MS-50E, it’s easy to: Adjust blowing pressure Change the blowing arc Perform maintenance checks Special Features Final drive pinion is heat-treated for maximum service. Pre-lubricated gear train is totally enclosed so that no dirt can reach it. Low-pressure heads are made of ductile iron, which has higher pressure and temperature ratings than cast iron. High-pressure heads and flanges are fully rated ANSI 600 psi cast steel pressure standard. Valve stem and plunger are made of Type 420 stainless steel. Seat is 410 SS prehard insert. Full one-year warranty included. Post Office Box 16025, Greensboro, NC 27416-0025 • 336.389.0515 • midsouthpower.com

With the MS-50E Rotary Soot Blower from MidSouth Power Equipment Company, you can keep your equipment in top operating condition by cleaning harmful soot from convection surfaces of packaged or field-erected industrial boilers where the temperature does not exceed 1800 F. The MS-50E is a duplicate of the Copes-Vulcan D5-E Rotary Soot Blower. All parts are interchangeable.

Easy to OperateThe element is mounted in the boiler supported by element bearings attached to the boiler tubes. The nozzles are designed specifically for each application. The unit’s electric drive motor rotates the element through the bull-and-pinion gear in a full 360-degree arc about its axial center line.

Two Operating ModesThe MS-50E is designed for either individual operation or for use in a sequential system. Models with the suffix “S” allow the sequencing operation, where each blower completes the cleaning cycle in a selected sequence. When all of the blowers have cycled, the unit automatically shuts down. The MS-50ES is also easy to operate, since only the first blower needs to be started.

Extends the Life of Your EquipmentWith the MS-50E blower, your boilers are protected from corrosive furnace gases by a scavenging air check valve that comes as standard equipment on all units.

Blowing pressures are adjusted easily by loosening the lock nut and turning the set screw in a clockwise direction. A pressure gauge can also be installed on the head of the unit if you need to determine the exact blowing pressure.

With the MS-50E, it’s easy to:• Adjust blowing pressure • Change the blowing arc• Perform maintenance checks
