Brainstorm

The word “Direction” led me to think of different directions such as “Twist” and “Turn”. I chose rotation and thought about the many things that rotate. From the list of things that rotate I selectedthings that I could evoke realistically in my animation. The fact that a “Microwave, Washing Machine and Sink,” are all found in the kitchen, gave me the idea to set the animation in that very place. This would allow me to demonstrate all forms of rotation with continuity throughout the 40-second film.

Storyboard

The animation will express the three chosen words; Microwave, Washing Machine and Sink showing the flow of movement for each. It will cut between scenes rather than continuously flow, in order to separate the different types of movement. The letters at the beginning will tell the audience what the ani-mation is about, which lasts for 15 seconds. Then each type of movement will last 15, 8 and 2 seconds. To make the animation look interesting I will use different camera angles by slowly moving the camera between shots. The camera will be kept steady using a tripod, making the transitions look smooth and more realistic.

Final Animation

Movement is expressed throughout the video in many forms of rotation and therefore meets the initial criteria. Forms include a microwave, washing machine and sink. The animation was created using a SLR camera and a tripod to give clear images and a steady focus. Some of the photographs where taken incorrectly which gave some inconsistency. This made me realize that photographs should be taken with more care.
