Wild Child?Teenage diva Bella Thorne in new to the U.K music

scene and has already become subject to huge contro-versy; from her outfits to her attitude and even her hair the critics love to hate this young starlet. Thorne has featured on several gossip columns and in every tabloid imaginable due to her controversial album “Diamond in the Rough” with its strong lyrics drawn from her many bad experiences in life it is no surprise critics have deemed her lyrics O.T.T and unorthodox. However if “all publicity is good publicity” this talented youngster seems to be doing things the right way. Yes this girl is flamboyant and expressive but at least she is no Lindsay Lohan or Miley Cyrus - but are all of these compari-sons damaging her career? NO! And this interview Bella exclusively gave to Rouge is setting the record straight and releasing her side of the story

Who were your musical idols growing up? I have been influenced by so many artists but when I was growing up I pretty much lived through the music my par-ents played which was Blondie, UB40 and Madness. I’d like to think that my music is as influential as there’s and as emotive and full of depth – these artists grew up in such a tough era where recession and Thatcher government ruined lives and they still all managed to sing with their heads held high and appeal to the mass working class audience. I only hope I can do as well as these amazing artists.

How do you cope being in the spotlight all the time? I just try to keep myself in a relaxed environment and never ever read about myself in the tabloids because it just makes me feel down about my music when in fact if at least one person likes my music I feel like I have done a good job.

How do you feel about the negative reactions you have gotten in the press? To be honest I don’t give a **** I don’t know what their problem is so I refuse to get myself into a mini depression thinking about it – I just feel angry about it, if they left me alone it would feel like I am on holiday do they not learn from their mistakes the press almost killed Britney and I am not being next.

When you were unsigned how did you get your music heard? When I was unsigned it was hard to get my music out there I mean nobody uses myspace.com anymore so that immedi-ately failed but I then discovered the power of YouTube. I uploaded videos of me singing covers and playing my guitar and then began to upload videos of me singing my own songs. My major breakthrough was when somebody from my label (burning shed) saw me singing song “brutal love” and came in contact – I do realise how lucky I was not many people have been as lucky as me, I do appreciate it.

What is the best rumour you have heard about yourself? There isn’t any good rumour if that’s what you are implying – I mean why I would have a favourite rumour about myself that’s just pathetic. If you mean what is the most outra-geous rumour it is that me and Lindsay Lohan were caught sharing ‘substances’ at Les Deux in L.A somewhere I have never even been – these people that create rumours are as pathetic as the people who believe them!

What inspires you when you’re song writing? I get inspired by my personal life experiences I am not one of those sappy singers who have songwriters or get inspired by love. LIFE IS TOUGH, mine especially and I am not going to shy away from the truth of life. My music is deep and full of my life something my fans appreciate that.

What made you want to become a singer? What made me want to become a singer was Glastonbury music festival I have watched it on TV every year and I always wanted to be there. Yes I do love my intimate gigs in small venues it makes me feel as if I’m injecting my emo-tion into the audience but Glastonbury is so legendary and I ant to become a part of that Legend.

When unsigned did shows like the x factor appeal to you to?If the X Factor was more versatile and accepted my genre of music of course I would have tried out but the X Factor rejects uniqueness and prefers every winner to be a new version of the last and I do not accept that as a career it is unfair to force artists to conform – however I do appreciate the aspect of the X Factor it is a lifeline to a certain type of artist and anything that can help out a fellow musician is ok with me even if it does reject my style.
