#NPLNSWCLUB WELCOME

Today we welcome the players and officials of the Rockdale City Suns to our spiritual

ground that is the Sydney United Sports Centre for this round 14 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s fixture.

Round 13 saw our boys under new coach Miro Vlastelica take out a much needed three points at the always tricky Lily Homes Stadium against Blacktown City thanks to a goal from Matt Sim that proved to be the winner in the end. The boys know they are in for a tough encounter tonight with revenge on their minds after our FFA Cup exit at the hands of the Suns in Round

6 so the focus will be on the three points and our run in getting higher up the NPL NSW Men’s ladder.

Sydney United 58 would like to thank all its valued sponsors as well as our passionate supporters who have continually gotten behind our beloved club. Here’s to a valuable victory tonight.

Come on you Reds!

1ST GRADE - NPL NSW MEN’S

Momentum is building for Sydney United 58 and they will be determined to keep it alive

with a win against rivals Rockdale City Suns on Saturday.United 58 gave new coach Miro Vlastelica a perfect start to his tenure with a 1-0 win against Blacktown City last weekend.Rockdale on the other hand have discovered their groove again after a horror first half of the season.Matt Sim was the standout performer for United 58 against Blacktown City with the midfielder’s early goal proving the difference. Sim’s experience will play a big role in the run home for the Reds as they look to add consistency to their performances. The Suns have woken from their slumber over the past three weeks with back to back wins helping Paul Reid’s side climb to within touching distance of the top five.Defence has been the biggest weakness for Rockdale this season and they must show

significant improvement if they are to keep out the experienced and dangerous attack of Sydney United 58.Games between these two sides are always a tough contest and this match will be no different.

#NPLNSWMATCH REVIEWSBlacktown City 0 – Sydney United 58 1 at Lily Homes Stadium

It was a winning start for Miro Vlastelica as Sydney United 58 defeated Blacktown City FC by a 1-0 scoreline at Lily Homes Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The new coach’s first match at the helm resulted in three valuable points thanks to a decisive early goal from Matt Sim.

The result narrows third-placed Blacktown’s lead over United, reducing the gap from a daunting seven points to a hope-instilling four as teams begin to jostle for positions as we push into the back half of the 2018 NPL NSW Men’s season.

Rockdale City Suns 4 – Wollongong Wolves 1 at Ilinden Sports Centre

The resurgence of the Rockdale City Suns continues after a comprehensive 4-1 win against Wollongong Wolves at Ilinden Sports Centre on Sunday.

An inspired second half performance was the difference as Rockdale scored three in the second stanza despite going into the interval locked a 1-1.

Aleks Canak opened the scoring after only 13 minutes but Peter Simonoski found an equaliser right on the half time whistle.

It was a completely different story in the second stanza as the floodgates opened for the Suns with Alec Urosevski and Bai Antonio netting before Aleks Canak wrapped up the result with a goal at the death.

The result catapults Rockdale into a tie for fifth spot on 17 points while Wollongong drops down to ninth.

NPLNSW.COM.AU U20’S MATCH PREVIEW

Sydney United are searching for a win to remain in touch with the top five as they

host Rockdale City Suns at Sydney United Sports Centre.

The Reds had won two on the bounce prior to last weekend’s narrow defeat to Blacktown City and will arrive into the fixture with the Suns six points away from fifth-placed Hakoah Sydney City East.

United 58 would consider anything less than a finals finish a failure this season and will target the visit of Rockdale as three points they must collect in order sustain their hunt for a top five place.

It won’t be easy against a Rockdale outfit who have turned their rocky campaign around in recent weeks. In their last five matches against the current top five, the Suns were only handily beaten by Blacktown City – Stamati Glaros’ side defeated Sutherland, drew with Sydney and were edged out by Wollongong Wolves and Hakoah Sydney City East by one goal margins. The 10th-placed visitors will now take on sixth-placed Sydney United 58 having proven their quality in the competition.
