Friday, October 20 10:30am: Discussion Join us in the MacKenzie Suite for a discussion with a local actor from one of the shows we are seeing this trip, moderated by Ryan Rilette. 5:30pm: Optional Dinner 2 If you’re free, please join us for another fun dinner together. Location TBD. 7:30pm: Young Marx at the Bridge Theatre Be one of the first to see Young Marx at the Bridge Theatre, a new venue started by Nicholas Hytner, former Artistic Director at the National Theatre. It’s 1850, and Europe’s most feared terrorist is hiding in Dean Street, Soho. Broke, restless and horny, the thirty-two-year-old revolutionary is a frothing combination of intellectual brilliance, satiric wit, and child-like emotional illiteracy. Creditors, spies, rival revolutionary factions and prospective seducers of his beautiful wife all circle like vultures. His writing blocked, his marriage dying, his friend Engels in despair at his wasted genius, his only hope is a job on the railway. But there’s still no one in the capital who can show you a better night drinking than Karl Heinrich Marx. Running time TBD.

Bridge Theatre, One Tower Bridge London, SE1 2SD

Saturday, October 21 1:00pm: Walking Tour In the spirit of Handbagged, Barry Houlston (Bsc., Politics and Economics, London School of Economics), a specialist in royalty and political figures, will lead a tour focused on the relationship of the Prime Minister and the Queen. We’ll walk from 10 Downing Street to Buckingham Palace, passing many extraordinary landmarks, as we learn about the Queen’s 13 Prime Ministers and speculate on what they might’ve talked about in their private weekly meetings. 3:00pm: High Tea at Ruben’s Hotel After the walking tour, we’ll head to the Ruben’s Hotel, overlooking the Royal Mews at Buckingham Palace, for a traditional English High Tea. We will return to the hotel at 5:00pm.

7:30pm: Apologia at Trafalgar Studios Starring Tony Award-winner Stockard Channing, the play focuses on Kristin Miller, a firebrand liberal matriarch of a dynamic family, who is presiding over her birthday celebrations. An eminent art historian, Kristin’s almost evangelical dedication to her career and her political activism has resulted in her sons—Peter, a merchant banker, and Simon, a writer—harboring deeply rooted and barely suppressed resentments towards her. Running time TBD.

Trafalgar Studios, 14 Whitehall, Westminster, London SW1A 2DY 10:00pm: Farewell Dinner Following the performance, toast to another successful London Tour at our Farewell Dinner! Location TBD.
