Take the STRESS away

Round Up Ready Corn

Eliminate the STRESS

• The introduction of Round Up Ready over

10 years old

• Has added a whole new dimension to

weed control in beans and cotton

• Has been in corn for about 5 years

• Yield drags in the original RR event were

eliminated in the RR2 event

Eliminate the STRESS

• VT technology has shown to be over 95%

accurate with gene splicing virtually

eliminating any “surprises” when new

introductions are made

• The stresses caused by soil borne insects

are eliminate by the seed (BT, CRW)

• You must still plant based on the

performance

Eliminate the STRESS

POINT OF INTEREST

TRIPLE STACK hybrids

have shown to have

greater stress tolerance

than their sister lines

without the triple stack

trait

Could it be from just having

less root stress? Note smaller plant 1 stage behind

other and will take nutrients that

stronger plant could use for grain fill

Page 5: Round up ready corn management practices

Eliminate the STRESS

• Weed pressure still must be controlled

• Many of our herbicides do have some sort

of effect on hybrids (they are plant killers)

• Safeners do help off set some of the

stresses caused by some herbicides

• Programs with least stress and solid weed

control are best

Page 6: Round up ready corn management practices

Eliminate the STRESS

• Grasses must be

contained through the

critical stages of high

nutrient uptake

• ALS chemistry can

stunt ears and holds

plants back

• High rates of PGR

can stunt corn

Eliminate the STRESS

• Round Up Varieties give a good post

option of Round Up for good general

contact control---No residual!!

• Many “full boat” programs run out of

residual chemistry in adverse seasons

• The residual “clock” needs to be reset for

best full season weed control.

Eliminate the STRESS

• Guardsman Max

– Frontier+Atrazine

– No stress like Dual

– Atrazine good basic

broadleaf herbicide

– Very water soluble

combination

– What about trizine

weed control??

Page 12: Round up ready corn management practices

Eliminate the STRESS

• RESET the clock

• Let trizine weeds

emerge

• Round Up (add 2-4 oz

Clarity if needed)

• PROWL H20 resets

the residual clock for

season long trizine

weeds, grass!

• NO STRESS!

Page 13: Round up ready corn management practices
Page 14: Round up ready corn management practices

Eliminate the STRESS

• Prowl is SAFE on all emerged grasses

• Tank mix partner such as Clarity in conventional hybrids will control broadleaf weeds

• Control grasses up to Prowl application with Guardsman, Princep
