maternity sessions~ STYLE & TIMING ~

Pregnancy is an incredibly beautiful and fl eeting time in a woman’s life.

You will never regret having captured these precious days. I recommend booking your session between weeks 32 and 34, when you are still able to move around

comfortably without getting overtired.

My style for maternity photography is simple and feminine. Your session will be outdoors in nature’s best backdrop.

I love maternity sessions to feel natural and organic. I avoid bare belly shots as while they can look tasteful

and beautiful, the can also look forced.

~ CLOTHING & GROOMING ~

Pick an outfi t that is fi gure fl attering and comfortable, such as a long fl owing dress. A long dress hugs the body

in all the right places and clearly shows your pregnant belly. Jeans and t-shirts can also look fun and casual

but make sure the shirt is well fi tted.

The little details are a big part of your portrait. Modest accessories are great: add an accent colour with your jewelry or scarves to

give your photo some extra fl air.

Choose neutrals such as tan, cream and beige. Avoid white, which can look too bright.

Avoid bold logos that will date your images.

Guys should avoid wearing shorts, as bare legs tend to look odd in some poses.

Have an awesome hair day, even if that means having a stylist or friend do it for you. This might seem excessive to some, but it could make the difference between a ‘nice’

photo and a glamorous one that you absolutely love.

Defi nitely wear makeup. Even those with incredible skin will benefi t greatly from well chosen makeup.

newborn sessions~ GENERAL INFORMATION ~

To ensure the sleepy, curly newborn poses, I advise scheduling your newborn session

between day 5 and 14.

Newborn photography sessions take about 2 hours - sometimes shorter, sometimes longer - depending on the baby’s disposition.

Newborn photography requires a good amount of planning and patience, so don’t let it bother you

if it takes longer than expected.

~ SET UP ~

I prefer to go on location to the client’s house for newborn sessions. This way, everyone is comfortable and all the baby’s necessities are easily accessible. To prepare your home for a

newborn session, I suggest you do the following things:

About an hour before your session, turn your house temperature up between 80 - 85 degrees. Newborns love to be warm,

especially when they are naked. I will also bring a space heater for added warmth.

Please keep young children and other distractions that could cause startling loud noises out of earshot. I want to create a

quiet atmosphere to keep your baby calm and asleep.

Make sure your newborn is well fed and sleepy when I arrive. Many images I take require your baby to be in a deep slumber.

Before the last feeding before I arrive, I suggest having your baby in just a diaper,

swaddled in a blanket to avoid extra handling.

I love capturing sweet moments with Mom, Dad, and other siblings. To keep the focus on your baby, please have available

a solid gray, cream, black or brown shirt, blouse or sweater. Make sure your outfi t is washable because I guarantee there

will be accidents with a diaper-free baby in your arms!
