CANBERRA is a 30,000 square foot Manufacturing, Engineering, Service, and Sales site with 47 nonunion employees, specializing in nuclear measurement and instrumentation. Now owned by Mirion Technologies.

Results (team efforts):$9M/YR revenue business was slated for closure in a global footprint plan 2004. Within

first year of assuming leadership the profit margin increased to over 30% Gross Margin. Through the next 6 years Concord has become the most profitable entity in CANBERRA (per person revenue and Gross Margin %), and the 2nd largest entity in terms of revenue – with $29M in 2011, 2012.

Implemented Lean – Kanban, Work Cells, Value Stream Mapping, Playbooks, ABC inventory, Green Belt training programs, Consignment inventory, Vendor managed inventory, Point of use program, Weekly safety training, Finite capacity planning, FMEA, Design to cost engineering, Facilities improvements.

Concord the first CANBERRA entity with ISO 14001, and ISO 18001, also responsible for achieving ISO 9001, 14001, and 18001 for Oak Ridge site.

Perfect safety record maintained over full experience at all entities. Highest employee opinion scores worldwide – 4 years running at Concord (Surveys not

conducted since 2010). Highest organizational scores in AREVA assessment (audited) by a factor of 2

Submitted business plan for implementation of He3 reclamation at OPG. Lead for cost reduction projects and industrialization planning global production.

Some achievements Detector cell – production increase by factor of four with no additional personnel –

improving margin from ~25% to ~70%. Production cell and playbook – able to flex people with temporary labour to offset

business seasonality (100% achieved in 2010, 2011, 2012). Inventory turns increased from 2.5 to 9.5 with 95% on time delivery. Kanban, point of

use inventory, ABC inventory, mean deviation controls, vendor managed inventory, and strong forecast process introduction; were introduced to resolve existing supply chain problems.

ISO implement (9001, 14001, 18001) in Oak Ridge achieved in 6 months. Implemented work cells in Oak Ridge and Concord. Cost savings projects numerous – including $500k program in HPGe and over $1M for

international manufacture of equipment. Wrote boilerplate template for consignment inventory programs used in multiple sites. Developed Operations procedures for worldwide implement of SAP. Lean training programs introduced globally. Introduced safety program used globally.

GARLAND Commercial Ranges, Mississauga, ON 2000 to 2004OPERATIONS MANAGER

Oversaw all production and fabrication for 80,000 square foot facility with 200 unionized employees. $60M/YR revenue in highly competitive commodity market for commercial cooking equipment.

Results (team efforts): Implemented SMED program. Changed packaging methods reducing work force from 13 to 4. Moved ‘Cuisine’ production from Pennsylvania plant to Mississauga plant. Implemented configurator for sales. Outsourced powder coat line (underutilized). 98% sheet yield nesting - Over 250 turns/yr. sheet steel. Implemented production control systems (colour coded). Introduced RF scanning technology for inventory control. Implemented safety reward program for employees.

LePage Adhesives, Brampton, ON 1997 to 2000SUPERINTENDENT AQUEOUS AND POWDER DIVISION

Oversaw production and packaging operations for 3 shift operation in 100,000 square foot facility with 55 unionized employees. $60M/YR revenue in chemical processing. Promoted from unit supervisor, developed a finite capacity plan and integrated vessel production and packaging operations resulting in reduction of a 10 page backlog report to a 95% on time delivery result in 6 months.

Results (team efforts): Introduced first JIT programs. Developed operations procedures for both packaging and vessel production. Lead for packaging process project –established new packing processes. Lead for water treatment process; worked with companies to develop improved

environmental compliance.
