Experience a tropical environment
bountifully adorned with exotic ferns
from across the globe.
There are thousands of species found across the
world and most predominantly in rain forests. The
attractive elegance of the fern has adorned this
planet for nearly 500 million years, and it’s the oldest
plant to have formed a vascular system. Now is your
chance to view a large assortment of fern varieties
concentrated together in the Butterfly Conservatory.
Miles of trails allow you to investigate the various
colors, shapes, and sizes of the lush, lacy plant. Walk
through the Fern Test Garden to observe new and
rare ferns. No matter where you start, all paths lead
to the focal point of the garden, the Chrysalis Foun-
tains, which is surrounded by a perfect courtyard for
a picnic.
Adjacent to the Fern Nature Center, the Garden
Discovery Pavilion has plenty of opportunities to
learn more. There are brochures, classes, books and
special events catered specially to the fantastic fern.
