Air Berlin is one of Europe’s leading and Germany’s second largest airline. It has 64 national and international awards for quality and following a successful recapitalization and a fundamental restructuring it is already experiencing favourable growth in its code share passengers and development of new code share routes.

In support of this new growth and restructuring, Air Berlin is currently starting to migrate its Suite of Passenger Service Systems (PSS) from one major Suite (Amadeus) to another partner (Sabre).

As any airline will know this is a major and complex undertaking and Air Berlin has sought the assistance of RP International in sourcing, selecting and providing the best Aviation PSS expertise for the planning, management, control and delivery of the project.

Emirates Airlines tasked RP International to be part of its initiative to build a project management group (PMG). We were initially tasked to set up UK based interview days, managed out of RP International UK offices, where we managed the delivery of candidate case studies, psychometric testing and face to face competency based interviews.

This overseas initiative enabled the client quickly to evaluate western experienced consultants, who had exceptional use of industry methodologies and best practice.

Following on from this year-long initiative which involved 4 UK recruitment drives over a 12 month period acquiring 30+resources, RP International was then tasked to draw on its global footprint to provide true international resource. The project required RPI to source talent value from locations such as Eastern Europe and the European subcontinent, specifically to fulfill the client’s upgrade to R12 of Oracle ERP.

For this project RPI supplied the Lead Project Manager and functional Consultants across HRMS, Financials, iProcurement and Logistics. Other Subject Matter Experts placed included niche skills and experience such as Maximo (an asset management system), Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, CRM, e-Commerce, Infrastructure, Buildings and Facilities Projects and Service Management (ITIL).

The recent decision by Emirates to customise its existing PSS solution has led RP International into a strategic position as a recruitment partner in working exclusively with VP/senior portfolio/programme management roles, as well as supporting the programme for the next 3-4 years supplying project resource across Project Management, Change Management, Business Analysis, PMO, UI/UX, GUI, Architecture, Testing, Software Development, Business Intelligence, Data Warehouse, IT Infrastructure and Security.
