Almore Mines have acquired an 18-c1a;mroup located in the east

centr~l portion of Craig Township, Sudbury Mining Division of Ontario.

The claims 11e on thewest side of the Spanish River. 45 mnes north'tlest

of Sudbury and access to them is by air to Bluewater laKe and thence two

miles overland on foot or by air or car to the Spanish River and thence

by boat.

The topography comprises two hl1ls, approximately 150 feet high.

heavily tref.!d, with stream course valleys bisecting them. Outcrop is 10\'1.

being found along cliff faces and in stream beds.

The claims are underlain by Algoman granites and intruded by basic­

(diabase) ~kes nf Keweenawin age. A copper-gold showing has been reported

along the claim boundary of claims 269070 and 269071 and a sulfide zone

located in the north portion of the group.

The claims are well located in an area that has not been extensively

prospected and is close to two well "novm productive mining ca."ilps.

Geological structure is favourable and mineralization is reported

on the claims. In view of the a~ove, the ground must be vim1ed as having

a b~tter than average potential and should be actively explored.

A programr~ of geological and geophysical surveying is reco~ended

at an estimated cost of $10,150.00 and diamond drilling, if justified, at

$20.000.00, for a total of $30,150.CO.

At the request of the nanagcr.tent an eX8Jl1ination was made in person on

August 17 and 18. 1970. of a group of 18 claims held by tho ccr.:;lany in Craig

TO\'!nsh1p. Sudbury Mining Division, Ontario. The examination \'laS made to

detc~ine the economic pot~ntial of the elaims and outline plans for further

exploration.

The'proper~y comprises 13 contiguous unpatented claims located in the

east central portion of Craig To~nship. Sudbury Mining Division, in Lots 3,

ACCESS ANI LOCATION

The claims l1e on the west side of the Spanish River, touching the

river on the northeast corner. A small unnamed lake lies on the southwest

corner.

The town of Berney is approximately four miles east-northeast and

Sudbury is approximately forty-five miles to the southeast. Acce:..s is by

air to the Spanish ~iver or Bluewater Lake and thence overland on f90t or

by road via Higm.,ay 144 forty-f1','e miles from Sudbury to the Spanish River

and thence by boat. A bush road connects from Bluewater Lake to serne

undetermined point to the south;'4est.

Labour, power and communication facilities are readily available

f~ sources not over four miles" distant.

TOPOGRAPHY Ar~O FEATUR~

The property comprises t\'10 hilly areas bisected by an ea.st-\·Jest

flOwing creek and bounded on the north by Kennedy R. and o~ the west by

the Spa~ish River. A valley or draw dotted with a series of lakes is on

the west side. Elevations are about 150' above the river and no extre.i,e

changes are noted.

Outcrop is abcut 2% along the hillsides and river and creek banks.

Tre3 cover is heavy, comprising pine, spruce. birch, poplar irlld swamp grO'llth,

",it.'! heights to 2~ feet and butt side to 4 inches.

G~OLCGY

The area is generally underlain by Algoman (Pre Huronian) granites

of toe Pre Cambrian. A band of Pre Huronian gneisses and schists. generally

idontified IS greenstones, strikes across the centre of the area and d'ps

<~.nd along the south side of the greenstcme belt. These are cut off

by no~east stMkil\9 faults on the north side.

The claims are underlain by Algoman granites and the north boundary

cbuts on the !lrcenstone granite contact. A basic intrusive dyke is ""apl'l~d

as stl"ik1ng northeast across t"e claims from the smilll lake on the \'ICSt side

for a distance of 3/4 mile and 15 sho\'m as 1/8 mile wide.

30 - 35 feet and a width of 7 feet bas been stripped. The full \.,1dth or >-

length has ROt yet been ~tcnl1ncd. The vein strikes almost due north-

south along a cliff exposure. On the north p~rtion of the claims an

unmapped creek s~ a sulfide zone of sane extent.

results indicate thAt good copper and gold values \iere pr'Csent •. This 1'/15

not confinr.ed by the tlriter nor \.;as the showin!J located, as the information

as to its location car~ suLsequcnt to the writer's visit to the claims.

There is no history of any previous exploratlon on thls ground.

CONClUSII)~i

The property is w€:l1 loc~ted bet'llecn the Blfnd R1ver cain~ and Sudbury

c~~~ ar.d is in an area not ~xtcns1vcly explored. The geolcgy 1$ f~vour~ble

fer the a~pcs1tlon of sulfide Qinerals. precious netals and both a copper­

~cl~ snoNir.~ ~nd sulfide zone are reported on tne claims.

Access is not Simple, which \>Jould account for the lack (if exploration,

but (Gould be rCiidily made convu.ient.

The prcpcrty has ~ore t.'lan average ili~rit based on the surface sho\,/inss

gnd geology and is ~orthy of fu~ther work.

ll1e property has better than average marft and an active exploration

progr.:t;m;e should be instituted.
