^ .'RODUCTION
This report refers to the results of a magnetometer and
electromagnetic survey conducted in the area of the James Bay
Lowlands Project, north of Hearst, Ontario.
LOCATION AND ACCESS
The property lies some 60 km north-northeast of Hearst
and is numbered P-2. Access is by helicopter from a camp on
Fushimi Road, 40-45 km north of Hearst.
*
The approximate boundaries of the work area are latitudes
50015'N and 50040'N and longitudes 83*15'W and 83040'W.
METHOD
Grid
The grid consists of a base-line with picket lines at
right angles to it. Picket lines lie at intervals of 100m along
the base-line, and all lines are marked by pickets at intervals
of 25m.
The survey was carried out using a Geometrics G-816/826
magnetometer which are of the proton precession type and read
the total magnetic field. Readings are taken at 25 metre
intervals along the grid lines. The data are reduced to a local
datum and corrected for diurnal variation with reference to the
output of a Geometrics G.826 base-station magnetometer. The
results are presented on contoured plans.

Electromagnetic Survey
The survey was carried out using an Apex Parametrics
Max Min II electromagnetic unit in the maximum-coupled horizontal
co-planar mode. A 200 metre coil-spacing was maintained at all
times and the operational frequency was 1777 Hz. Readings were
taken at 25 metre intervals along the grid lines. The data are
presented as profiles of the in-phase and out-of-phase (quadrature)
components.
RESULTS
The survey results are presented on plan maps LO-2890
(magnetics) and LO-2890B (electromagnetics).
The magnetic survey over claims P473824 and P473825 did
not show any features of interest nor did it show any extensions
the feature drilled.
The electromagnetic survey over claims P473989, P473990,
P473824 and P473825 showed some very poor responses. On LIE,
1+75N and L2E, 2+80N a weak (about 5 X in-phase, 4? quadrature)
set of responses can be seen associated with magnetic anomaly.
However, the areal extent of the quadrature response is much
greater than that of the in-phase and is also up to twice the
coil-spacing indicating that it is not a simple, deep thin sheet
type response. As a very weak quadrature response (2?) persists
over to L5E where another more distinct response similar to those
on LIE and L2E can be found, it is suspected that this is due to
overburden conditions.

CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
As no new targets were identified, no additional work
can be recommended at this time.
