Rotary Leadership in 2018

In March 2018, it will be 30 years since Rotary Oceania Medical Aid for Children (ROMAC) brought its fi rst pa ent, 11-year-old Annand Chand from Fiji, to the John Hunter Hospital for life-saving surgery.Since then, over 500 children, from our neighbouring island countries have received life-giving or dignity-restoring surgery, thanks to ROMAC. We can all be proud of our eff orts.To celebrate, Rob Wilkinson, Chairman ROMAC invites you and your partner to a end our 30th Anniversary Dinner at Strangers’ Dining Room, NSW Parliament House, Macquarie Street, Sydney on Friday 16 March 2018.The dinner is $150 per person (inc GST), plus the online booking fee, and includes three courses and drinks. All meals are gluten-free. Dairy-free and vegetarian op ons are available when booking online. Robyn Kapp has been a member of the Huntington’s Association in NSW since the mid 1970s. She was executive officer from 1983 until retirement in 2006 and returned in 2011 to resume the role.

In the past 30 years, Robyn has served as president of the National Huntington’s Association and the International Huntington’s Association.

She is a member of committees including the Brain Donor Program, NSW Brain Banks and Neurological Alliance Australia.

Robyn Kapp was awarded an Order of Australia Medal in 1999 for service to the Huntington’s community and the Spastic Centre of NSW.

Highlights of a recent trip to Cambodia by Central Blue Mountains Rotary members Ian and Jennifer Scott and John Sim.

Si ng in a cafe run by an Australian NGO, Jennifer said: “ I met a Rotarian from Connec cut who was building a house for a poor family. And two Rotarians from Malvern East in Melbourne who were working at a school for handicapped children.And a Rotarian from Brisbane who was working on a project called Teacher in a Box.

Every year a breakfast is arranged at Sala Bai, a hospitality school run by a French NGO, and supported by the Blue Mountains Interna onal Hotel Management School. Several Rotarians from the Blue Mountains are also involved.
