Family Learning and Development Worker Musselburgh First Step is a community based, locally managed project in Musselburgh. Our aim is to provide opportunities for families with young children to make positive choices and to encourage parents and children to develop their skills, confidence and self-esteem. The post supports the Family Opportunities Programme providing opportunities for personal development, learning and positive well being for parents and carers through groups and classes. The post holder must have considerable experience of community development and group work and have worked in a community setting with families. In Work Support Service – Edinburgh & East Lothian Wide
A new In-Work Support Service will operate for employees who have recently taken on new employment but who may need support to stay in their job. Funded through the Department of Work and Pensions Flexible Support Fund this pilot project aims to assist those new employees, by supporting them with any barriers that may prevent them from sustaining. It will primarily focus on people gaining employment from the hardest to reach unemployed groups including ESA clients, Lone Parents and long-term unemployed (including work programme returners); however each referral will be considered on an individual basis. This service offers a suite of support options including;
Mentoring Support
Coaching (face to face or telephone)
Further job search support
‘Better off’ calculations for underemployed clients still on benefits
Access to further training opportunities
Modern Apprenticeship options
SVQs
Mediation between the new member of staff and employer if needed
