CHAIRMAN’s MESSAGE

Dear parents, Teachers and Students,

At the outset, I am very glad to share with you afew of my thoughts through this edition of theSchool Diary 2018-2019.

Let me give a brief account of the real scenarioand the climatic conditions of the human societyon this planet. At present, it is not very muchencouraging and in fact, it is rather intimidating.Instead of safety and security, confusion and

disorder prevail in the society. People become over ambitious; they are aftercomfort and luxury; they are mad after wealth; they fight for fame and name; theylike to achieve everything easily and quickly; they are not true to each other, to thesociety and to themselves, as well; they compete with one another in the unethicalrat-race and ultimately lose the peace of mind.

What could be the solution for such a sad state of affairs? The remedy, it seemsto me, lies in the hands of parents, teachers and students who can build a goodinfrastructure of the society through the right kind of education.

It is needless to say that none other than parents comes first to my mind. A lot ofthings are said about ‘Parenting’ in the recent days. All parents love their children,but there should be a limit; they should neither be too liberal nor be too strict. Theyhave to continuously observe the behaviour and the movements of the childrenand correct them whenever they go wrong. It is the duty of the parents to providetheir children a positive kind of environment to become good citizens. Actually,parents should have a ‘detached attachment’ towards their children.

In addition to the parents, teachers are believed to be the second parents of thestudents. It is disheartening to note that, of late, the teacher-student relationshipis not appreciable. There should be a mutual faith between the teacher and thestudent. Teachers have to be dedicated and sincere in their profession. There arealso students till the end of their life. And so they have to update their knowledgeconsistently. Only by virtue of their quest for knowledge, they are considered‘mobile assets’. They have to teach so as to reach the students. It is not the marksthat matter but the spark within a student that makes all the difference. A businessman should plan ten years ahead, a politician one generation ahead, but a teachera century ahead.

Last comes the role of the students. The future of the society lies mostly on theshoulders of the students. They should be handled with care. The youngsters,normally, resist to listen to the advice from any quarters, let it be parents, teachers,elders and so on. There are a lot of distractions to digress and divert the concen-tration of the students. Despite the distractions, the students have to concentrateon their studies along with adhering to the values of life. They should study beyondthe syllabus, update their knowledge about men and matters, think differently andindependently and become innovative so that they could contribute their preciousshare to the society. They should equip themselves to that extent of realizingDr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam’s dream of making India a powerful nation.

Having said and done, I strongly believe that the sacrifice of the parents, thededication of the teachers and the sincerity and the loyalty of the students woulddefinitely bring a positive change to the society.

If the parents, the teachers and the students play their roles genuinely, there willremain meaningful peace and harmony in our society which will lay a strongfoundation for the desirous developments in all spheres of life.

I, hereby, wholeheartedly congratulate the Administrator, the Principal and thegalaxy of Teachers who are doing yeomen service to the younger generation.

Warm greetings! Whether you are a parent or a student, teacher or a well-wisher …..beproud of the fact that you are a part and parcel of this historic institution - R.S.K School,which is 54 years ‘old’… nay… ‘young’. When I say ‘young’, I mean the ‘spirit and thephilosophy’ of the school is vibrant and ever growing like the youth.

We, at RSK, don’t believe in bookish knowledge, gloomy facts and figures. We believe inimparting ‘Holistic Education’, which equips the students with skills and values along withhands on experience. The students feel confident and empowered like the matured birds,with fully developed wings, eager to fly. Education will be incomplete without impartingvalues and a host of soft skills and life skills. Apart from sound academic programme, thestudents are trained through a plethora of activities and competitions, which enable them toface the ever dynamic life situations. Our students know it well that life is not a bed of roses;it has thorns too…..Life is not only cheers, but tears too. One cannot reap, if one cannotsow, is a universal truth.

I call upon my dedicated team of teachers to keep updating their knowledge and methodol-ogy as it is rightly said “those who do not update become out-dated.” Out –dated thingslose their relevance.

I impress upon my students to carve out their life into a beautiful statue by chiselling out theunwanted things - be it beliefs, habits or activities. Further, when students attempt difficultthings, they automatically gain confidence on daily basis. This will give them the courageand grit to attempt bigger things in future and leave their footprints on the sands of life, aswas done by great personalities. Your life is in your hands. RSK HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOLA THUMBNAIL SKETCH

R.S.K. Higher Secondary School, initially christened as Boiler Plant Higher

Secondary School, is named after the first General Manager of BHEL, the dynamic and

far-sighted, late Mr. R.S. Krishnan.

It came into being with Rev. Bro. Camillus, a Montfort Brother of St. Gabriel, as

founder – Principal, in January 1964, with a small group of students. Today, it cradles

more than 5000 students on its roll and 160 staff members. The cherished dream of late

R.S. Krishnan is being realized in full measure, making a heaven for children to excel

themselves in intellectual, physical, cultural and spiritual pursuits.

R.S.K. Higher Secondary School was managed by the Montfort Brothers of St.

Gabriel, from January 1964 till April 2006. In May 2006, BHEL, Trichy, then entered into

a contract with the Global Indian Education Foundation, Singapore, which managed the

school till April 2011.

From June 2011 to May 2016 the School was managed by Dr. K.K.R’s

Gowtham Concept Schools, a pioneer group of Educational Society from Andhra Pradesh.

With effect from September 2016, the School is being managed by Pavai Varam

Educational Trust, Rasipuram.

ATTENDANCEEvery student is expected to put in 75% of attendance for the year to be

eligible for promotion. No student should absent himself / herself without prior permis-sion from the Class Teacher. If a student goes on leave for more than 3 days, the leaveletter should be submitted to the Principal.

Parents should ensure that their ward/s attend the school regularly, wearing theprescribed uniform. Absenteeism during the Monthly Tests and Terminal Exams will notbe condoned. If a student is absent for the Monthly Test or Terminal Exams that will affecthis / her Promotion.

Step 1: Two oral warnings for which a written apology needs to be given by the Student.Step 2: A written letter of apology assuring that the student will behave properly in future will be obtained from the parent.Step 3: Suspension for five days which will be noted in the Transfer Certificate.Step 4: Dismissal

(The Principal will suspend / dismiss the student if it is necessary for the situation)

Note: Fine will be collected for breakage of school property / furniture etc.,

RULE OF LANGUAGE● Interacting in English is mandatory in the school premises. Those who violate

this rule will be dealt with seriously.

HEALTH Parents are requested to inform the school if their child is suffering from anymajor ailment. The school, if not informed, will not be responsible if the student falls ill inschool.

AWARDS & PRIZES Prizes are awarded for academic proficiency and outstanding performance inextra curricular activities.

TRANSFER CERTIFICATE Written applications for T.C. should be submitted to the school office on or

before 20th March 2018. Parents applying for T.C after 20th March, 2018 will have to remitthe Tuition fee of the first term. For cases of cancellation of T.C. the candidate may be re-admitted, subject tovacancy. The requisite admission fee will have to be paid.

TO BE STRICTLY FOLLOWED BY ALL STUDENTS

● wear gold, fancy or costly ornaments. Exceptions can be made where an articleis being worn for religious reasons (having intimated teacher in-charge or classteacher).

CODE OF CONDUCT FOR STUDENTSEvery student of RSK must endeavour:

1. To be smart and neatly dressed.2. To converse only in English while he/she is in the school premises.3. To be polite and well mannered.4. To respect parents, teachers and elders and greet them whenever you meet

them.5. To stand and greet when a teacher enters the classroom and sit down only

when told to do so.6. Never to tell a lie, cheat or use unfair means in the examination or on the

playground.7. Avoid using any kind of foul language. Teasing others and picking up

unwanted fight inside the school premises will lead to disciplinary action.8. Never to loiter aimlessly along corridors, run about, shout or whistle.9. To avoid writing on walls or carving out names on desks/ benches /

tables/ chairs.10. To know the magic in the words “Please” and “Thank You” Use them

frequently on all appropriate occasions.11. To accept defeat with a smile like a true sportsman.12. To regard the school as his/her second home and do every thing possible

to keep the classroom and the school premises neat and pleasing to theeye.

13. Never to indulge in deliberate destruction of school property and to report anysuch instance to the teachers.

14. To treat his/her schoolmates as his/her own brothers and sisters and helpthe others whenever possible.

NOTE TO PARENTS / GUARDIANSAll Parents / Guardians are requested to note the following carefully:

● Parents / guardians are not allowed to visit their children / wards or

teachers in their classrooms. Parents / Guardians can meet the teachers

only after 4.00 p.m. or during lunch break.

● Parents shall regularly check the students’ School Diary and ensure that it is

signed daily after verification of Home Assignment.

● When the parents/guardians get calls from the teachers or office they must

meet the teachers / office staff concerned at the time earmarked. In case, the

time earmarked is not suitable, parents shall send a note to the teacher

concerned to get a suitable time fixed. In case the teachers’ calls are

neglected by the parents/guardians without any response for more than

three days, the student concerned will not be allowed to attend classes.

● Parents shall make sure that children do not bring any expensive articles to

school.

● Parent–Teacher meetings are very important and should not be missed.

TESTING & EVALUATION R.S.K. believes in a child competing with himself / herself rather than withothers. In this process, tests and exams become necessary as a diagnostic tool toidentify the areas of strength and weaknesses of each individual student and to helpthem consolidate the strengths and the weaknesses.

HOME ASSIGNMENT Home Task greatly solidifies and reinforces concepts taught during theschool hours. It also helps children to become responsible, self reliant and inculcatesmanagement skills.

Home Task of maximum 2 subjects will be assigned daily to be completedby students from home.

Parents must ensure that all such tasks are completed by their ward(s) fromhome and the Parent’s signature column must be signed without fail.
