DESCRIPTION

Wild Asia’s Responsible Tourism Awards is an annual award to recognise tourism accommodations in Asia that are making a difference. Established by Wild Asia in 2003, the awards is the first of its kind in Asia for excellence in responsible tourism. We believe that sustainable destinations can be made a reality by creating rewards, promoting sharing and inspiring change from within the travel industry. Now in its fourth year, The Awards is now aligned to United Nation’s World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO)’s Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria and we hope to encourage more operators from the region to step forward and to share their best practices. We first introduced our annual Responsible Tourism Awards in 2006. The Awards give us an opportunity to acknowledge operators who are making a difference and to increase our understanding of the industry. The Awards act as a showcase for exemplary resorts and as an inspiration to others. All finalists will be visited by our fact-finders and our judging panel will include the advisory team of Wild Asia, a senior member of the media, and an eco-architect.

Finally, why we do what we do

“If environmentalists aren’t willing to engage with big businesses, which are among the most powerful forces in the modern world,

it won’t be possible to solve the world’s environmental problems.”
