3. Installation and Operating Instructions
3.1 Install the O-rings
Make sure the O-rings and threads on the gauge are properly lubricated beforeinstallation. Check the O-rigns after installtion and replace it with a new one if you findan O-ring scratched or damaged
Figure 1: The O-ring installation
3.2 Connection between the computer and gauge
RubyTek has two ways to connect the computer and gauge, the user can choose eitherway.
1) Connection the download adapter to battery pack, then connnect to the gauge:Line up the red dot on the lithium battery pack with the red dot on the download adapterand insert carefully. If this does not happen gently, double check to make sure the reddots are line up. See figure 2.

the red dots are line up. Connect another end of the download adapter to the PCcomputer’s USB port. See figure 5
Figure 5: The download adaptor
Note: If the battery pack is connected first, the gauge allows the user to complete theconnection between the computer and gauge in 10 minutes. If the gauge has beenpowered with the battery connection for at least 10 minutes, but the USB cable has neverbeen connected to a PC computer, the gague would start to log data with default settingsand ignore all configure commands from the PC. If default settings is not sufficient, theuser must unplug the battery pack and repeat the above the procedure to configure theguage.
3.3 Configuration of pressure gauge
Starts the RTS User Logger software. The user software pop up the Device Info page if itfinds the gauge. Otherwise, it will goto the Plot page for data view and plot.

3.3.1 Meaure the voltage of battery pack
Switch to the battery page (See figure 6), battery pack information such as the serialnumber can be filled into Battery Specification box and download into the gauge byclicking the Set button. The current battery voltage can also be measured by click theRead buttor on the left of Battery Voltage box.
This page allows user to estimate the battery capacity under the schedule, and givestypical power consumption values for battery selection reference.
Note: Any standard 150 —185 single AA lithium pack should have a voltagefrom 3.6-3.9V (refer to manufacturer data sheet). A lithium battery with a voltage under2.4V should not be used. If a new battery shows a voltage less than expected, it may havea passivity layer problem. It is unknown what type of environmental changes the gaugeexperienced while it is down the well. Extreme temperature changes will definitelyshorten the life span of the battery. Therefore it is suggested that a new battery be usedeach time the gauge is run into the well.
3.3.2 Configuration of the job schedule.User can set sample interval and job hours for this interval, the maximum number
for interval settings is 32. The software automatically estimate the total hours/days and

the total log data points of current schedule setting. The schedule will be stored intogauge by clicking the Download button (See figure 7). The gauge will works accordingto the last schedule interval until it has no memory space for the samples
Figure 7: The job schedule page
3.3.3 Setting system time and log start time.
1) Set system time. The currently computer’s system time can be obtained and shown by the View Time
button. The computer’s system time will be downloaded into the gauge by clicking SetTime button in System Time Setting dialog, and the current clock/timer status of thegauge can be obtained and checked by the Get Time button.
2) Set log start timeThe user can set the time when the gauge will start to log data by:1) Setting the exact date(year/month/day) and time(hour/minute/second) in Log
Start Time Setting diaglog and clicks the Set Log Start Time button.2) Set log delay time in munutes. If you don’t need exactaly log start time, you can
configure only the system time. The gauge will start to log after a default value ( 10minutes ) delay after the system time set. Of course, you can change this default valueand then click Set Log Delay button to set the new delay(Max delay value is 5 hours).

3.4 Remove the download adapter.
One hand holds the battery and another hand pull out the download adapter carefullyfrom the battery pack. Check the connection reliability between the battery pack and thegauge to make sure it is perfect. The battery pack should be unpluged and the proceduresfrom 3.2 to 3.3.4 will be repeated if you find some connection problems.
3.5 Install the battery housing
Slide the battery housing over the battery and tighten it onto the electronics housing. If this process is not easily done, stop. Remove the housing and the battery. Try slidingthe battery into the housing by hand to see if there is any obstruction. If there is aproblem, check to see if the inside of the housing is clear and check the outside of thebattery for foreign material or swelling. The battery will twist off inside of the electronichousing socket if it does not fit freely in the battery housing. See figure 8
Figure 8: The battery housing installation
Tighten the battery housing on to the electronic housing using 11/16” or17mm wrenches on the wrench flats. These gauges are O-ring sealed (not metalto metal sealed) and therefore should only be slightly more than hand-tight.
* Do not over-tighten and do not use pipe wrenches on these gauges asyou could damage the housing.
3.6The gauge is now ready to be run into a well.
3.7 Data retrieval
1. The gauge should be allowed the cool sufficiently before working with it. Loosenthe battery housing from the electronics housing using a 11/16” or 17mm wrench.

2. Slowly remove the battery housing from the electronics housing. Ensure nopressure has built up inside housing. Lift the battery housing off of the battery.
3. Remove the battery pack from the electronics housing socket by gripping thebattery as close to the pin as possible and pull straight off the electronics housing.*Do not twist the battery!! It is now time to start downloading the informationrecorded by the gauge.
4. Line up the red dot on the download adapter with the red dot on the gauge andinsert carefully. They will only connect this way. Do not force or twist!! If theconnection is difficult, stop and look to see what the obstruction might be. Clear allobstructions and try the connection again. Connect another side of the cable ofdownload adapter to a PC computer’s USB port. See figure 9.

3.8 Plot and analyze the data
1. Plot and compare the job dataAfter uploaded, the job can be opened and plotted in the Plot Data page for further
analysis. Two jobs can be opened and plotted (with the Draw1, Draw2 button) at thesame time for comparison. Statistic information (maximum pressure and temperature, mean pressure value, etc.) inside the current viewing window and the values at currentcursor can also be displayed for reference (see Figure 11). Please read the help manual ofthe logger software for more details.

2. Analyze the job details by “Zoom In/Out” and “Message Tip”After opened, in order to analyze the details of the data, the plot can be zoom in with
“+++” or zoom out with the “---” button, and can be scrolled by tracking the scrollbar, orforward with “>>>” and backward with “<<<” button. The zoom feature can also befinished with mouse by a “left button down & drag to select area” action, i.e., dragfrom top-left to bottom-right is the zoom in, and drag from bottom-right to top-left is thezoom out (see Figure 12).
By moving the mouse cursor closely to a data point on the plot, the user can easily toview its detail values as a “message tip” on the selected point (see Figure 13).

3.9 Servicing of the gauge
1. After all data is uploaded from the gauge, carefully disconnect all components.2. Clean and lubricate the gauge after use. Replace all O-rings after every run to protect
the gauge from potential damage caused by failure. There are only two O-rings on thegauge at the top section of the electronics housing. Typical O-rings are number 014-V90 or 212-V90 that supplied with the tools. O-rings should be selected based on theenvironment the tool will be run in.

3. Remove the bullnose or crossover after every run and clean the pressure ports. If thepressure ports get plugged, then the gauge may not read accurately. With the bullnoseor crossover adapter off, carefully rinse the pressure transducer without directlytouching it.
CAUTION: DO NOT TOUCH OR REMOVE THE PRESSURE TRANSDUCERDIRECTLY AS IT CAN BE DEMAGED VERY EASILY. WHEN THE TOOL ISNOT BEING SERVICED, ENSURE THE BULLNOSE IS INSTALLED ON THEGAUGE TO PROTECT THE TRANSDUCER.
4. Lubricating the Gauge ThreadsThe threads on the top of the electronics housing and on the bullnose should be
lubricated with the proper lubricant, such as Dow Corning 55-O-ring lubricant. Thisshould be done prior to usage.a) It should be noted that the gauge does contain electronics and should be treated
gently whenever possible. Store gauges in their storage cases when not in use.b) Never submerse the tool in fluid unless it is completely assembled.c) If you are running a slick line test, do no exceed 150 feet per minute when
running the gauges into and out of the hole.
