This project is the outcome of a group efforts to whom

credit and technical responsibility goes. This project is based on an assignment which was

given to course participants and supervised by Dr.

Abdel Rahman El Gamal as a part of “Fish Development

Training course”. This annual course is organized

by the Egyptian International Centre for

Agriculture - Egypt (EICA). The names of the team

members who developed this project as well as their countries are shown in the

following slide

Objectives

• to integrate livestock rearing units as allied activitiesalong with fish farming in order to generate manorialinputs

• to process organic wastes to generate biofertilizers

• to utilize agricultural, horticultural crop residues andaquatic macrophytes for lingo-cellulose processing

• to harness gaseous energy from biological wastesthrough anaerobic digestion to prepare biofertilizersthrough aerobic digestion mechanisms

Page 6: RURAL EMPOWERMENT THROUGH ESTABLISHMENT OF BIOVILLAGESfishconsult.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Establishing-of-Bio... · RURAL EMPOWERMENT THROUGH ESTABLISHMENT OF BIOVILLAGES

• to cultivate in situ nif-biofertilizers and single cellprotein as ancillary activities to aquaculture

• to generate liquid manures and biologically activegrowth substances for use in agri-horti-aquaculturalpractices and

• to utilize fish pond as production unit to obtainorganically certified produce for human consumption
