Georgia Department of Transportation | Public Information Open House HandoutPI#(s): 0006446, Counties: Harris / Muscogee, Date: 7/8/2019

Why We Are Here: The proposed project would benefit the public by alleviating the congestion on SR 1/US 27 and potentially decreasing the frequency and severity of crash incidents. These improvements will also provide a smoother surface for travel and could optimize property values over time.

Project Description: The proposed project includes widening the existing 2-lane and 3-lane rural roadway from Turnberry Lane to just north of East Bonacre Road. The widening would include urban shoulders on both sides with sidewalk from Turnberry Lane to Wooldridge Road. From north of East Bonacre Road to SR 315 east side wouldinclude overlaying the existing pavement only. From SR 315 east side to north of SR 315 west side proposes urban shoulders with sidewalks and a new location roundabout to relocate the SR 315 west intersection with SR 1/US 27.Additionally, SR 315 west would shift eastward from its existing intersection with SR 1/US 27 onto new location, tying into the existing SR 315 east intersection (see below map). Approximately 60-177 feet of right-of-way (ROW) would be required, as well as easements in an amount to be determined. Additional ROW and easements may be required.
