Instructions for upgrading RW20 to firmware version 4.4

Prerequisites: Firmware version 4.3 installed on all RW20s

Note: If all of your RW20s are not currently on firmware version 4.3, please see other instructions: 4.3 Firmware Upgrade instructions

These instructions are specific to updating via the RW20 web interface. Directions for updating via the Admin Console are found on page 7:

Step 1: Determine the firmware version of each of your RW20 devices.

To locate the current firmware for your entire RW20 Group via web:

1. Find the IP address of one RW20 from the “About” button on the physical front panel of your device.

Scroll down to the bottom of the main web page and select, “RoomWizard setup…”

2. Login. The default password will be either “roomwizard” or “79201” depending on when the

RoomWizard was purchased. Your Organization may have changed the password, so be sure to

check with your system administrator if the password has been updated.

3. Select Group.

4. Select Firmware.

5. See list of Group’s firmware versions.

Step 2: Download the firmware and patches needed from the following hyperlink. Save to your computer: 4.4_Firmware.cpio.gz

Step 3: Begin the Firmware update process.

Click on the “Firmware” link.

Step 4: Click “Upgrade”

Step 5: Select “Upgrade from a CD-ROM or local file,” then select “Upgrade THIS Wizard” button.

Step 6: Browse to the file location where you saved the downloads in Step 2.

Step 7: then accept the license agreement to complete the upgrade process.

Step 8: Wait for the file to load; this process takes approximately 3-8 minutes depending on your network. The RoomWizard web page will show as “unavailable” if refreshed until the unit has completed the reboot cycle and is available again on the network. The physical unit on the wall will display the Steelcase logo screen with a progress bar at the bottom until the reboot cycle has completed.

Step 9: Click the “Perform the Upgrade” button.

The RW20 front panel will continue to show “Available” until you have passed the “Confirm Firmware Upgrade” web page. After clicking on “Perform the Upgrade” button, this page will remain for the next 5 minutes.

Step 10: Click “Finish.” This will start the firmware install to your RW20(s). During this time, the unit will power down and become unavailable via web and at the front panel.

Step 11: NOTE: Do not disconnect your device when the “system loading” screen is showing on the RW20. This is normal the first time the device reboots and will be displayed for 6 minutes.

IMPORTANT NOTES

The firmware is a large file that takes several minutes to process. Please be patient during

the upgrade as it can take up to 20 minutes to complete the process. Do not disconnect or

stop and restart the update process once it has begun, as it can render the device

unrecoverable. Once the update is complete, the RoomWizard will reboot on its own.

Step 12: After the first RoomWizard is updated successfully, the firmware can be pushed to Groups of devices if the RoomWizards have been placed in Groups using the web admin pages.

Upgrade your RoomWizard Group using the same Steps 3 – 10 with the exception of Step 5, you will select “Upgrade ALL Wizards.”

Step 13: Confirm the firmware updated successfully by following Step 1. You can also see the firmware is updated through the “About” button on the physical front panel.

Firmware Update Process – Admin Console

The following instructions are specific to updating via the Admin Console. Directions for updating via the RW20 web interface are found on page 1:

Step 1: Determine the firmware version of each of your RW20 devices.

To locate firmware version via the Admin Console:

1. Open Admin Console from All Programs.

2. Type your password, the default is “roomwizard”

3. Expand your Group and select a unit you want to see firmware version for.

4. One the right hand side, bottom, select “Properties. Firmware version will be listed on the right side

of the console.

Step 2: Download the firmware and patches needed from the following hyperlink. Save to your computer: 4.4_Firmware.cpio.gz

Step 3: Begin the Firmware update process. Right click on your unit, select Firmware, select “Upgrade Firmware”

Step 4: Select “Upgrade firmware from local file”. Use “Root” as User Login and set User Password to “ScRwPw01”

Step 5: Browse to the file location where you saved the downloads in Step 2.

Step 6: Click OK

Step 7: The display will show the device upgrade is in progress; when completed, a message is displayed indicating the unit will reboot

Step 8: Device Reboots

Upgrade your RoomWizard Group using the Admin Console by right clicking on your Group, selecting “Firmware,” then “Upgrade Firmware…”. Continue the upgrade by following steps 4-9.
