a. District Officers
1. District Superintendent
District Superintendent’s report to the district assembly. Dear representative of the General Superintendent having Africa in his jurisdiction, Dear honorable leaders of the Fields, who are present here, Your
excellence visitors and invitees, Pastors and delegates from the churches that make up the District Assemblee, I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus
Christ. I am pleased to give you the District report in its 12th assemblies as well as the 6th report as your District superintendent.
I would also take this opportunity to extend my thanks to God who keeps protecting me with his grace and enables me to serve him especially for this just
elapsed year… the year during which our district made a tremendous progress in its history. I also thank all the Reverend Pastors that worked with me as a
team aimed at contributing to advancing the kingdom of God as well as raising the glory of God, me with helping the pastors of the churches
I also thankful to all the members of the District Advisory Board for their participation in all its meetings as it was planned. Their opinions and contribution
are very vital for the District . I thank all the team leaders, all the pastors for the way they are committed to serving God!
As a pastor I know how difficult it is for you to serve God but you never give up!
I so much thank my wife that abode with me and went to lend a helping hand to a church of Nyamyumba that was spiritually collapsed! That church has
now come from eight members that used to have to 68 members. They baptized 23, and received 17 as membership
The summary of the history
The Rwanda North West District came into being in 1998, after the Genocide, war and the split up of the church of the Nazarene in the Country.
The District had 33 churches when I became the District superintendent in 2006, one organized church, 9 pastors with district license, 0 ordained pastors,
12 temples and 1480 members. Currently the district has 52 churches, 17 organized churches, 8 ordained pastors, and 4 others waiting to be Ordined for,
25 temples( 2 destroyed by torrential rain) and 2998 members in total this ending year.
The churches managed to raise some money to build their district headquarter. It now needs roofing and finishing work.
The District moved from phase one to phase two. This is something to be happy about because it is now recognized in international level. Now it will be
represented in the General assemble with a vote.
In addition to that, the members of the church have showed that they are able to serve positively using their talent and resources without having recourse
to higher institution, they have discernment that they came up with their own leaders.
I would like all of us to rejoice together as we celebrate this event!
The past year report:
- The members came from 2998 up to…….
- The churches grew from 50 to 52
- The churches that reported to the District are 85%
- 3 new temples were built, and 5 renovated. Some helped themselves and others were helped by the District( Gikaranka, Nyamyumba, Karago,
Muhigi, Bikoro, Karambo na Gisenyi)
- Meetings and seminars for all pastors were held 6 times, District Advisory Board was held 4 times, There were youth congregations, and 10 revival
days.
- I visited churches either myself or delegates in a district level. Those that were not visited it was out of means, lack of time or some churches that
do not have clear business plan.
- 3 theological courses were taught for the pastors either by ourselves or by the invited friends
- The social fund for the retired pastors was reinforced that we do hope that no retired pastor will get old poorly
- The pastors worked really hard and showed that where there is a will there is a way. For this I would want prizes for the most performing pastors
The long ago issues but that still need solutions
- We did not finish the District headquarter as we had planned
- Bulding the temples destroyed by the natural disaster was not possible
- We hope we would build many temples but were hampered by the government instructions to only use baked brick of cement block! We need the
temples that meet the 2020 vision standard, but it requires great resources. The members need to work really harder
- The churches we planted are not enough because we did not came up with the planned number. The churches still need to understand that
expansion of the ministry should be their concern. So they have to stand up and bring forth others
Although I talked about what was impossible, we hope that God is almighty and is disposed to help us out for his glory
Vision and goal
We have been teaching pastors how to plan strategically for their churches and homes! The global strategic plan make up the District plan. Here are some
- Numbers of the members the District is looking growing to 15%
- Number of the people to be made Christ like disciple that the District is looking to have this year 860
- Number of the churches to be planted 6
- Number of the temples to be built 3
- Number of the micro project that will be started 24
- Number of the pastors that will be taught how to save and use bank loans in a bid to curb poverty from the pastors 32
Winding up
I so much thank God that kept me alive as I continue to serve him, I also thank my household that are always beside me, that put up with me being away
from them as much time as they want to see me because of much work. I also whole heartedly the former field director Chanchi Chanda for all the
collaborations and advices that he provided with me
I thank all of you that agreed to be my friends and brothers and sisters to build the kingdom of God
I thank all pastors and the treasures of the churches that excelled. Allow me to thank some of them publicly and hand to them the presents the District
readied for them
1. Nzirorera Francois: was the only pastor who managed to build 2 temples with iron sheet in one year
2. Mukarurangwa Caritas: She was a pastor’s wife who won so many people to Christ in a very short time and woke up the spiritually collapsed church of
Nyamyumba
3. Murekatete Sarah: she is the church treasurer who gave more money than other in the District report
4 Angelique Is the treasurer who gave a report nicely and he is a model treasurer in the rural area
5. HATEGEKIMANA Floribert : Is a good leader he contributed to a good name of the school and the church in general, as well as a good image in the county(
success rate 99,2%) the first school in Gisenyi town in terms of hygiene).
May God bless you abundantly?
May your salvation be accompanied with holiness, clothed with spiritual development and good welfare!
