NGLexus has paid special attention to engineering even better handling and performance in the RX. Comprehensive improvements have been

made to the full hybrid powertrain, suspension and body rigidity. Every element underwent many thousands of miles of rigorous testing, both in laboratory simulators and extreme real-world driving conditions to ensure the finest quality and performance are achieved.

Lexus Hybrid Drive The RX 450h is powered by a development of Lexus Hybrid Drive that delivers higher performance yet significantly lower fuel consumption and emissions that extend its impressive environmental efficiency and low tax. The combination of the 3.5-litre V6 Atkinson cycle petrol engine and two high-output electric motors together produce 313 DIN hp yet with CO2 levels from 120g/km* and combined cycle fuel economy from 54.3mpg.*

*SE grade with 18” wheels.

Chassis and handling Greatly increased body rigidity is key to the RX’s improved handling stability and ride comfort, achieved using advanced welding and bonding technologies and strategic use of high-strength yet lightweight steels. At the same time the suspension and steering have undergone important revisions to provide sharper response and better feedback, while maintaining the comfort and cabin quietness that are hallmarks of all Lexus vehicles.

All-wheel drive systems The RX 450h uses Lexus E-Four technology, with an additional electric motor on the rear axle to provide instant drive torque the moment you need extra grip.

Drive Mode Select You can tailor the RX’s performance to suit your preference and the driving conditions using the Drive Mode Select control on the centre console, with Eco, Normal and Sport S. And, on F SPORT and Premier models, you also have the option of Sport S+ which brings the performance of the Adaptive Variable Suspension into the dynamic mix. According to choice, the engine performance, hybrid system, throttle, air conditioning and suspension are adapted to prioritise fuel economy or a more dynamic and engaging drive.

Aerodynamics The RX’s distinctive, individual design is also aerodynamically efficient, its wind-cheating shape helping reduce fuel consumption and provide a quieter cabin and smoother ride. The attention to detail includes an almost flat underbody, precise profiling of the door mirrors and strategic use of small but very effective aerodynamic fins around the vehicle.

Adaptive Variable Suspension The Adaptive Variable Suspension (standard on F SPORT and Premier models) gives the RX sports saloon-style handling, together with excellent ride comfort and stability. It automatically adjusts the damping force of the shock absorbers at each wheel in line with the quality of road surface and the way the driver is using the throttle and steering.B

Built-in strength The RX has an exceptionally strong and rigid body engineered to absorb, disperse and channel impact forces away from the cabin in the event of an accident. A collapsible steering column, structural reinforcements in key areas, side impact beams and seats designed to protect against whiplash injury all help keep you and your passengers safe.

Adaptive High-beam System On Premier grade models the Lexus Safety System + includes an Adaptive High-beam System which automatically adjusts the light distribution of the LED headlights to avoid dazzling other road users, instead of switching to low beam, thus maintaining maximum illumination.

Ten airbags All RX models are fitted with 10 airbags. These include dual-stage front airbags that deploy according to the level of impact, driver’s knee and front passenger cushion airbags, front and outer rear seat side airbags and full-length curtain airbags.

Blind Spot Monitor Rear-mounted radar detects vehicles in adjacent lanes travelling in the driver’s blind spot and warns of their presence with a warning light in the door mirror on the appropriate side of the car. Should you indicate to change lane, the light will flash to emphasise the warning. Standard on Premier grade and with Premier Pack.

Rear Cross Traffic Alert with Brake function The same radar used for the Blind Spot Monitor also provides a Rear Cross Traffic Alert, warning you of vehicles approaching from either side when reversing out of a parking space by sounding a buzzer and activating the lights in the door mirrors. If there is a possibility of a collision the brake control is activated. Standard on Premier grade and with Premier Pack.

Every RX is equipped with Lexus Safety System +, the safety and driver assistance features that work together to deliver exceptional help to prevent accidents happening, giving the RX the top five-star Euro NCAP rating.

Adaptive Cruise Control Controlled by a radar system mounted on the front of the car Adaptive Cruise Control will keep you a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, smoothly returning the RX to your selected cruising speed once the road is clear.

Lane Departure Alert/Lane Keep Assist A camera at the front of the RX monitors lane markings on the road surface. If you begin to drift out of lane, the system will sound a warning and briefly weight the steering to help you return the RX to its correct path.

Automatic High Beam Using the same camera as Lane Keep Assist, Automatic High Beam detects oncoming vehicles and traffic ahead, automatically switching the headlights between high and low beam, avoiding the risk of dazzle and maximising illumination when you need it.

Pre-Crash Safety The Pre-Crash Safety system constantly monitors the road ahead and calculates the risk of a collision. If it determines an impact is likely, it triggers audible and visual warnings and prepares the brakes to deliver emergency stopping power. If the driver takes no action and an impact is unavoidable, it will automatically apply appropriate braking and tighten the front seatbelts. The Pre-Crash Safety system is also able to pinpoint pedestrians and other hazards in the RX’s path and will activate automatic braking to prevent a collision, operating across a wide range of vehicle speeds.

Traffic Sign Recognition Traffic Sign Recognition uses the front camera to recognise important command and restriction signs on motorways and major roads. It replicates the information on the multi-information display, reducing the risk of the driver failing to notice them.

The special treatment includes exclusive design features, sports-tuned Adaptive Variable Suspension, highly responsive Electric Power Steering and an additional Sport S+ drive mode that lets you exploit the full potential of the F SPORT dynamic ride, handling and responsiveness capabilities.

F SPORT design The RX F SPORT adds powerful, performance-focused elements to the design, taking visual impact to an even higher level. The front of the car makes an immediate statement of intent with the dedicated black mesh spindle grille and deep spoiler, underscored by a satin chrome protector. The black door mirror casings, definitive F SPORT badging and 20” multi-spoke alloy wheels further reinforce the model’s special character.

F SPORT instrumentation The instrument binnacle reflects the performance profile of the F SPORT with a central meter design that’s inherited from the LFA supercar. The tachometer and digital speed indicator are presented using TFT (Thin Film Transistor) technology that gives excellent clarity in all light levels. You can monitor an extra performance element on the multi-information display with a G-sensor that records the lateral and longitudinal forces created as you drive. The screen can also show the steering angle, throttle position and hydraulic brake pressure.

Aluminium F SPORT pedals and scuff plates The motorsport-style pedals and footrest have drilled aluminium surfaces to give reassuring grip. The front sills have brushed aluminium-effect scuff plates, inscribed with the Lexus logo.

F SPORT interior The RX F SPORT models are available with a rich Dark Rose perforated leather upholstery, combined with a black roof lining. The F SPORT seats are designed to offer superior lateral support under hard cornering. The special quality of the cabin is also enhanced by aluminium inlays and a sports steering wheel – another feature inspired by the LFA supercar.

Towing Pack

Lexus towbars are designed to fully integrate with your RX and are extensively tested to meet the most stringent performance and safety requirements. Available to order for your RX with either 7-pin or 13-pin wiring.

Entertainment Packs

A series of Entertainment Packs are available to keep your rear seat passengers entertained. Building from two powered docks, which are integrated into the driver's and passenger's seats. Choose your initial pack configuration, and thereafter further DVD players and iPad holders can be added to your system.

DVD Players The DVD has a 7" screen, with a child-friendly top loading disc slot, stereo sound via headphones and a remote control. Systems can be configured with a single or twin 'master' DVD player(s), that can both play their own content, or in a 'Master plus Slave' configuration where the same content is played on both screens.

iPad® Holders* Provides a stable location for securing an iPad, whilst also providing power via a USB cable (not included). Please check iPad compatibility before ordering.

Headphones Infrared stereo headphones with independent controls so the volume can be set to a child-friendly level. For battery saving, they automatically shut down when no signal has been received for a period of time. Included as standard in all kits with a DVD player.

Rear foldable bicycle holder A lightweight, high strength lockable design for carrying up to 2 bicycles. Includes an integral lights and licence plate holder with 13 pin socket. Also requires tow bar (available separately).

Roof-top bicycle holder This lockable, lightweight holder has special grips to secure both the bicycle wheels and the frame. Conveniently, the frame grip can be adjusted at roof height.

Cross bars For use with your car’s pre-fitted roof rails. The cross bars lock onto the rails and form a secure base for carrying a wide range of specialised attachments. Please note these are not compatible with panoramic or sunroof options.

Ski and snowboard holder Lockable holder with a soft inner grip to secure skis or snowboards without damaging them. Attaches to your car’s cross bars and will hold six pairs of skis or four snowboards.
