Overview

The RYA Powerboat Level 2 Direct Assessment is for those who are already comfortable handling a powerboat and have good background knowledge. This assessment is for those who wish to drive a powerboat (up to 10m) and is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence (I.C.C.)

If you are looking to gain the RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate, have previous experience and are confident with your skills then this is ideal for you.

Minimum Age: 12yrs* (RIB), 14yrs* (Boston Whaler) 12 yrs* (Own boat)

*those aged Under 16yrs will receive an endorsed certificate

Duration: 1 day (0.5 day skills refresher + 0.5 day assessment)

Previous Experience:

• Approximately 1 season powerboat handling experience

Fees Include (School Boats):

• RYA Start Powerboating Handbook

• RYA Powerboat Level 2 Certificate (assuming successful completion)

• Use of a Powerboat (including fuel)

• Use of a Lifejacket

• Use of Wet Weather Gear (if required)

• RYA Powerboat Instructor

• Maximum 3 students on any assessment

Own Boat Powerboat Level 2 Direct Assessment:RYA Powerboat Level 2 Direct Assessments can be run by our RYA Instructors on your own powerboat (maximum 10m) anywhere in Dorset and Hampshire.

Minimum Age:

• RYA Level 2: 12 years* (Level 2)

Optional Supporting Courses:

RYA VHF / SRC Marine Radio (Online or Classroom)Duration: 4 - 8 hours (Online) 1 day (Classroom)

The Short Range Certificate is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and DSC equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio. This includes both fixed and handheld sets.

RYA First Aid (Classroom)Duration: 1 day

This one-day course covers all the usual first aid subjects, but from a boating perspective. It is aimed at anyone who goes afloat, whether on inland waters, coastal waters, rivers, estuaries or on cross channel passages.In a medical emergency a little first aid knowledge and immediate action can save lives, especially in remote locations. This one-day course is designed to provide a working knowledge of first aid for people using small craft and to support skippers.This is also the default first aid training required for those holding any RYA instructor qualifications or commercial endorsements is the RYA First Aid course. This course is designed for the specific demands of providing first aid afloat. It is also accepted by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) for use on board small commercial vessels and by World Sailing for compliance with the Offshore Special Regulations, and covers the requirements of the Health and Safety regulations for the purposes of emergency first aid at work training.

RYA Essential Navigation & Seamanship (Online or Classroom)Duration: 6-8 Hours (Online) OR 2 days (Classroom)

To introduce you to navigation and safety awareness for new or inexperienced skippers and crew and those wanting to refresh their skills. This course goes hand in hand with practical training such as RYA Powerboat level 2, PWC, Start Yachting and Helmsman courses.
