SÓLO EN DIOS Isaías nos habla hoy de Ciro, el rey de Persia, ungido del Señor. Dios llama a Ciro por su nombre y lo conduce a servir a los israelitas. En este pasaje oímos que es el Señor quien le da a Ciro su título, quien lo arma contra sus enemigos, y quien abre los portones, y no deja nada trancado ante él. Y Dios hace todo esto para que su pueblo llegue a saber que “yo soy el SEÑOR,” y que “no hay otro” (Isaías 45:6). Pablo abre su carta esencialmente con la misma noción, que sólo en Dios podemos hallar gracia y paz. Pablo también da gracias a Dios en nuestro nombre, recordando nuestro trabajo fatigoso de fe, esperanza y amor. IN GOD ALONE Isaiah speaks to us today of Cyrus, King of Persia, anointed by the Lord. God calls Cyrus by name and leads him in service to the Israelites. In this passage we hear that it is the Lord who gives Cyrus his title, who arms him against his enemies, and who opens doors and unbars gates before him. And God does all of this so that the people will know that “I am the L ,” and that “there is none besides me” (Isaiah 45:6). Paul opens his letter with essentially the same notion—that in God alone we find our grace and peace. Paul also gives thanks to God on our behalf, calling to mind our work of faith, hope, and love. And in the familiar Gospel reading, Jesus tells the Pharisees to give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
SÓ EM DEUS Isaías nos fala hoje sobre Ciro, o rei da Pérsia, ungido pelo Senhor. Deus chama Ciro pelo nome e o leva a servir aos israelitas. Over the next three weeks, we will begin a program that asks everyone to reflect on the amount that they give to Offertory. This review will ask several questions. They are: 1. Do I have a need to give or do I give only when there is a need? 2. Do I understand that there is an obligation to provide regular financial support to the parish? 3. Where does the parish fit relative to the other ways tat I spend my money? 4. How much do I give to the parish on a weekly basis? (If you give monthly or quarterly, calculate your
weekly commitment to put it in perspective.) 5. Is it too much, too little or just right? 6. If I am not at the parish for one or more Sundays, do I make up the amount that I have not given? 7. How much will I give each week during the coming year? We are grateful for your continued support especially during these trying times with COVID where our Church has been shut down or challenged. STAFF ACCOUNTANT (Full-Time, Non-Exempt) The Diocese of Stockton has an opening for a Staff Accountant. This position requires the incumbent to manage payroll, investment/bank reconciliations, cash receipts and receivable processes, annual business property statement fillings, fixed assets, and assists in maintaining the general ledger. Assists with the annual audit as well as other tasks as assigned. These functions are performed for several databases.
Demonstrates the ability to maintain the confidentiality of employee personnel files and payroll operations in addition to successful accounting experience with general ledger, accounts receivable, and accounts payable, preferably in a non-profit work environment. Must have a BA/BS or equivalent in accounting, bookkeeping or related field or experience, and have a strong knowledge of MS Excel. This position reports to the Controller. I offer You my prayers, thoughts, words, actions, joys, and sufferings in union with the Heart of Jesus, who continues to offer Himself in the Eucharist for the salvation of the world. May the Holy Spirit, Who guided Jesus, be my guide and my strength today so that I may witness to your love. With Mary, the mother of our Lord and the Church, I pray for all Apostles of Prayer and for the prayer intentions proposed by the Holy Father this month. Amen Traditional Daily Offering of the Apostleship of Prayer O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer You my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day in union with the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world. I offer them for all the intentions of Your Sa-cred Heart: the salvation of souls, rep-aration for sin, and the reunion of all Christians. I offer them for the inten-tions of our bishops and of all Apostles of Prayer, and in particular for those recommended by our Holy Father this month. The Apostles of Prayer offer themselves to God each day for the good of the world, the Church, one another, and the Holy Father’s inten-tions.
