FIRST FRIDAY— February 1st, 10:00 A.M. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church (899 First South Street). The featured speaker will be Jane Goddard, youngest daughter of Jess and Margaret Goddard. Although born in Nogales, Jane spent her youth in Camp Verde and Cottonwood. Her ties to the Upper Verde are strong with Jess’s parents, Will and Maude Goddard. They arrived in the Verde Valley in 1894, and lived and worked at several ranches, including the Apache Maid, the UVX Ranch, the Jim Brown Ranch, and also sold hay. In 1908, Will and his uncle bought the first steam powered thrashing machine. Don Goddard, Jane’s cousin, assisted in pouring the old cement slab in the Clarkdale Town Park for the regularly held square dances in the 1960’s. Please join us to hear the story of a long-standing Verde Valley family. Coffee and cookies will be available!

CHSM would like to ask for your support of the St. Thomas Food Pantry by donating non-perishable food items at each First Friday event. The receptacle is located on First South right across from the Post Office, next to the Fire Department.
