Week of: November 11, 2019 Social Studies Lesson Plans Standards Social Studies: RI.2.2, RI.2.7, RI.2.9, W.2.2, W.2.7, W.2.8, L.2.2: Students will learn that American Indians were the first inhabitants of North America. They will learn about American Indian culture. Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Lesson Objective: Morning: 1st Group - Erosion and weathering experience with Danielle Patin Activity: Virtual Reality - Classes that attend will observe the effects of weathering and erosion during the virtual reality experience. List three to five similarities and/or differences between two different landforms.. Materials: Virtual Reality Headset Science Notebook Pencil Homework: None Technology: Virtual Reality Headset Lesson Objective: TLW discuss the meaning of the word tradition and where American Indians practice them (powwows). TTW will explain that many different American Indians lived in North America. Read title and cover together. Ask students to predict what they think this lesson is about. Activity: 1 - Brainpop, Jr. - “Cherokee Indians” 2 - Read pages 2 and 3 of Social Studies Weekly. Compare the cultures of American Indian tribes. Recognize that American Indians were the first inhabitants of North America. 3 - Seek and find worksheet Materials: Worksheet Pencil Notebook Lesson Objective: TLW compare and contrast the ways that different American Indian nations communicated. Activity: 1 - ReadWorks assessment. 2 - Review the 5 groups of American Indians previously discussed. 3 - Brainpop, Jr. - “Pueblo” 4 - STEM activity - build a wigwam. Materials: Pictures Glue Scissors Craft sticks Brown paper bags Leaves Homework: None Technology: Smartboard Lesson Objective: TLW complete the last page of Social Studies Weekly..
