King’s Lake Community, Faith Community Church, DeBary Civic Association, Faith in Action and students and their families from DeBary Elementary made the holidays bright for many. Thank you for your tremendous generosity! Students completed mid-year summative assessments before the winter break. These tests provide teachers valuable information about student learning and progress. Third grade and fourth grade students completed district assessments in reading and math. Fifth grade students completed district assessments in reading, math, and science. It is a good time of the school year to check in with your child’s teacher on their academic progress. These assessments can be discussed and explained at your next parent/teacher conference. The second nine week report card will be avail- able on the Parent Portal on January 8, and a paper copy will be sent home on January 14. Thank you for your assistance and effort during school arrival time. We are working to decrease our daily tardy students to school. The first bell rings at 7:50 a.m. and the tardy bell rings at 7:55 a.m. If you arrive after this time, please park and sign your child in at the office. Our campus is secured directly after the tardy bell and we do not want students dropped off unsupervised. Morning routines can get hectic and traffic close to school time can often complicate things. Please continue to plan ahead and leave your house with plenty of time to get to school. We are beginning to see a decrease in tardy students and hope to see this trend continue over the next several months. We are ready to head into 2014 with great expectations, I look forward to a New Year and wish you a great start to your 2014!
