in the middle of Tennessee. Our tour includes the COUNTRY MUSIC HALL OF FAME and the GRAND OLE OPRY. The next show on our ticket will include dinner at the WILDHORSE SALOON (Nashville’s #1 dining and entertainment destina-tion). Let's do some country two-stepping!

As we close in on the SMOKY MOUNTAINS NA-TIONAL PARK, we will stop for two nights in PI-GEON FORGE. Fun awaits you in this city, where most attractions can be found right off the main parkway. Founded by country queen, Dolly Par-ton, DOLLYWOOD combines roller coasters, water slides and live bluegrass and gos-pel concerts combined with the fun of a country fair! Live show tickets in-clude the BLACK BEAR JAMBO-REE and the COUNTRY TONITE THEATRE!

Spend the next day touring the SMOKY MOUNTAINS NATIONAL PARK with a local step-on-guide. This breathtaking park encompasses 800 square miles of protected forest along the border of North Carolina and Tennessee. At the heart of it all is GATLINBURG, an ideal place for us to stop. Ex-plore the park, view the wildlife or embark on your

own outdoor adventures. A special stop at the Hard Rock Cafe to enjoy a meal is also planned. From Gatlinburg, travel north to BEREA, Kentucky. Enjoy a live show at the RENFRO VALLEY ENTERTAIN-MENT CENTER with traditional country music and a barn dance. This theatre helped give entertainers like Red Foley and Homer & Jethro the spotlight early in their careers. While in Berea, plan to visit the KEN-TUCKY MUSIC HALL OF FAME AND MUSEUM.

We’re off to horse country as we drive from LEXING-TON to FRANKFORT, Kentucky. View the legend-

ary landscape of this BLUEGRASS REGION as we drive the country roads around the Horse

Capital of the World where lush pastures, mile after mile of plank and stone fenc-ing, grazing horses and magnificent homes and barns are seen.

From Frankfort, continue on through Louisville, Kentucky, across Illinois and

to St Louis, Missouri where we will stay the night. We make a special trip to view the

SAINT LOUIS ARCH before we turn home to Wichita.

Branson, Missouri ~ “Live Music Show Capital of the World”

Memphis, Tennessee ~ “Birthplace of Rock ’n Roll” & “Home of the Blues”

Located in the heart of the United States, Branson is a city full of great attractions and,as hard as it may be to believe, small town charm. With its many attractions and vaca-tion opportunities, Branson is one of the most visited cities in the country. There is apopulation of 7,500 in this charming city, but its shows and other entertainment drawan average of 7.5 million visitors a year. Another reason that Branson is so popular isits great location. Located within a day's drive of 50% of the US population, this city isliterally in the center of the country. The city boundary encompasses 17 square miles, many of which are packed with theaters and theme parks.

We see the spectacular show, SIX—A showbiz spectacular of six multi-talentedbrothers, who take musical entertainment to a whole new level. SIX captivates

their audiences with pure harmonies, astonishing vocal feats, and singing so robust you’ll think you’re hearing a full band. From Gospel to Patriotic to Contemporary to Doo-Wop to Clas-

sics, SIX’s versatility is mind boggling!

We stay the night inthe beautiful ClarionHotel Branson righton the Strip. A hotbreakfast buffet willawait you in themorning.

Set high on the eastern bank of the Mississippi River, in the southwestern corner of Tennessee, Memphis isknown the world over as an immensely musical city - the cradle of the blues, the birthplace of rock 'n' roll andthe location of Graceland, Elvis Presley's flamboyant mansion. We visit Grace-land and then dine at the King’s Palace Café on famous Beale Street. King’soffers such local favorites at gumbo, shrimp, crawfish and barbeque.

However, there is much more to Memphis than music. Named after the capital ofancient Egypt (a reference to the Mississippi being the Nile of America) this city isa hustler and an enterprising metropolis. There is evidence that its origins as asettlement date back to at least AD1000, when Native Americans lived and wor-shipped here—the modern town was founded in 1819. A natural crossroads be-tween New Orleans, St Louis and Chicago, Memphis became an important trad-ing center in the mid 19th century and the main shippingport for cotton grown in the Mississippi Delta.

We overnight here inMemphis.

Nashville, Tennessee ~ “Music City”

Pigeon Forge, Tennessee

Set amid the gentle hills and farm-lands of central Tennessee, sprawl-ing Nashville attracts millions of visi-tors each year. The majority come toimmerse themselves in country mu-sic. We visit the Country Music Hallof Fame and the Grand Ole Opry,as well as eat and dance at the popu-lar Wildhorse Saloon. We enjoy twonights in this sparkling city!

Behind the rhinestone glitter andshowbiz exists a hard-working con-servative city. Nashville has been theleading settlement in middle Tennes-see since Fort Nashborough was es-tablished in 1779. A state capitalsince 1843, it is now the financial andinsurance center of the mid-South.

For all its "Nash-Vegas" image, thecity has maintained a strong reputa-tion for learning. As well as holdingover a thousand churches – more percapita than anywhere else in thecountry – it has been tagged the"Protestant Vatican" for its prolifera-tion of training colleges for preachersand missionaries, church administra-tive offices, and Bible-publishingplants.

Set against the misty blue backdrop of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park,Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is a gateway to 500 thousand acres of Appalachian wil-derness. In addition to the natural beauty of Pigeon Forge, down home fun is await-ing you at Dollywood. Founded by country queen, Dolly Parton, Dollywood com-bines roller-coasters, waterslides, and live bluegrass and gospel concerts, with agood ole country fair. The fun doesn’t stop here as we will see fabulous shows at

both the Black Bear Jamboree and Country Tonite Theatre!

Pigeon Forge offers action-packed fun around every corner, and most everythingcan be found directly on, or just off of, the five-mile long Parkway that divides thecity. From the majestic beauty of the surrounding mountains to the bustling activi-ties that can fill the streets, Pigeon Forge will never cease to amaze. We have a2-night stay in beautiful Pigeon Forge.

Gatlinburg, Tennessee

In 1916 when Andy Huff built the Mountain View Hotel in Gatlinburg,Tennessee to house timber customers, he probably did not realizehe was beginning a tourist boom to the Smoky Mountains whichwould make the Great Smoky Mountains National Park the mostvisited National Park Service Park in the nation. We tour this amaz-ing park with a step-on guide. Great Smoky Mountains NationalPark encompasses some 800 square miles of protected forest alongthe border of North Carolina and Tennessee. At the heart of it all isGatlinburg, an ideal place from which to explore the park, view wild-life or embark on numerous other outdoor adventures. We have freetime in Gatlinburg to shop and eat. They have a Hard Rock Café’!

We depart Gatlinburg to spend the night in Berea, Kentucky, just out-side of Renfro Valley, our next destination.

Renfro Valley, Kentucky

Since being founded by local area native John Lair and others in 1939, Renfro ValleyEntertainment Center has hosted the Renfro Valley Barn Dance, a traditional countrymusic show which gave entertainers such as Red Foley and Homer and Jethro the spot-light early in their careers. The Barn Dance and other programming originating in RenfroValley was broadcast over the CBS Radio Network until the late 1950s.

Today, Renfro Valley is known throughout Kentucky and the rest of the country for its richhistory of "Real Country Music by Real Country Folks." This tradition continues today withoutstanding stage shows put on by the current cast of Renfro Valley entertainers. Also, since 1992, Renfro Valley Entertainment Center has hosted Headliner Concerts that fea-ture a mixture of well known country singers with newer artists, as well as bluegrass, gos-pel, and comedy acts. Renfro Valley, Kentucky is also home to the Kentucky Music Hallof Fame and Museum which we will visit. Enjoying a family-style boarding house din-ner, a musical show, and visiting more than 20 unique shops and cabins at the

Renfro Valley Entertainment Center is on our agenda.

Lexington to Frankfort, Kentucky ~ “Horse Capital of the World”

Our route takes us through Kentucky horse country...from Lexing-ton to Frankfort, Kentucky.

There is no better way to discover the legendary landscape of theBluegrass Region than driving the country roads around theHorse Capital of the World. Lush pastures, mile after mile ofplank and stone fencing, horses grazing, magnificent homes andbarns: all this and more is there for your viewing pleasure.

When European settlers arrived on the scene, the Bluegrass re-gion was in use as a hunting ground for numerous Native Ameri-can tribes. Daniel Boone was one of the first Anglo-Saxons to ex-plore the area.

Lexington was founded in 1775, seventeen years before Ken-tucky became a state. William McConnell and a group of frontierexplorers were camped at a natural spring when word came fromnearby Fort Boonesborough that the first battle of the AmericanRevolution had been fought in Lexington, Massachusetts. In honorof the battle, the group named their site “Lexington”. By 1820, Lex-ington, Kentucky, was one of the largest and wealthiest townswest of the Allegheny Mountains.

St. Louis, Missouri ~ “Gateway to the West”

The City of Frankfort was founded in 1786 and wasmade the capital a mere six years later. Frankfort isnow considered one of the most picturesque Capitalsin the United States with its natural beauty and itsbeautiful historic and modern architecture.

Frankfort is a living, breathing history book. The townof Frankfort likely received its name from an eventthat took place in the 1780s when Native Americansattacked a group of pioneers from Bryan’s Stationwho were making salt at a ford in the Kentucky River. One of the pioneers, Stephen Frank, was killed andthe crossing became known as "Frank’s Ford." Thisname was later shortened to Frankfort.

We travel on from Louisville, Kentucky, across Illinois, and stop in St. Louis,Missouri. We stay all night here for aclose-up view of the Arch.

In the morning, we load the bus andmake our way back to Wichita, Kansasafter a fun-filled vacation.
