Make It Fun: Welcome New Friends/Memory Verse/God Sightings(9:00-9:10/10:30-10:40)*Use this time to chat and really connect with kids to make them feel welcome, safe & loved prior to Large Group. Ask the children to think about a time this week that God did something for them or something good that happened. Write what the children say on a Post-It note and stick it on the “God Sightings” poster in your classroom. Use this time to have children do the coloring pages with Scripture. Review the memory verse and give a sticker to children who can recite the verse, with or without help.

Teach the following motions to the children while saying the verse.

*ONCE VIDEO IS OVER*Preschool Room 7 will exit to the left out the far doors back to class. Have everyone hold at least one person’s hand.Pre-K/TK Room 6 will exit to the right out the middle doors back to class.Kinder Room 5 will stay until Preschool and Pre-K/TK have left. Then you will exit to the right out the middle doors back to class.ALL CLASSES take a head count or roll call when you are back in your classroom. Let a Roll Hill Kids’ staff member know immediately if your count is off.

Activity #1: Book Drive Bag

You Need: Paper bags, book drive flyer, stickers, crayons, and markers.

What You Do: Before the Activity: Have a helper put a paper bag and some stickers on the table for each child.

During the Activity: Children will decorate their paper bag with stickers, crayons, and markers. When they have finished decorating their bag staple a flyer to the inside of the bag. After the Activity: Children can put their completed Book Drive Bag in a cubby to take home.

What You Say: Before the Activity: “We’re going to decorate these bags. (Show sample) During the next few weeks we’re going to bring in books for a school that really needs them. You will take your bag home, fill it with books, and bring it back to church; so we can give the books to the school.”

After the Activity: “Your book bags turned out so cute. Just remember to bring them back every week in November with books to give this school that needs them. Jesus love when we give to others.”

Activity #2: Loaves and Fishes

What You Need: Paper plates, fish, loaves, glue sticks, crayons, and markers

What You Do: Before the Activity: Have a helper give each child a plate, 2 fish, 5 loaves, and a glue stick.

During the Activity: The children will color their plate, fish, and loaves. When they have finished coloring them they can glue the fish and loaves to the plate.

After the Activity: Children can put their completed project into a cubby to take home.

What You Say: Before the Activity: “We’re going to make our own fish and loaves. (Show sample). You’re going to color your fish and loaves and then glue them to the plate like this one. (Hold up sample.) When you are finished you can put them in a cubby to take home with you.”

After the Activity: “Your fish and loaves turned out great Jesus’ friends said that the boy’s 2 fish and 5 loaves were not enough to feed all 5000 people. Were they right? (Let children answer) They should have been right, but Jesus did a miracle. He made them multiply so there was enough to feed everyone, and they had some leftover. Only God can do miracles. Why did Jesus perform miracles? [Bottom Line] Jesus performed miracles to show that He is God’s Son!”

Optional Activity #3: Catching Fish

What You Need: Fish, buckets, and fishing poles

What You Do:

Before the Activity: Have children stand in 2 lines. Put the bucket with the fish in front of each line and the empty bucket on the other side of the room from each line. Hand a fishing pole to the first person in each line.

During the Activity: Have the children take turns “catching a fish” with their pole and taking the fish to the bucket at the other side of the room. Continue until all children have had a chance to catch a fish.

What You Say:

Before the Activity: “We’re going to play a fish catching game. You will each get a turn to catch a fish out of this bucket. (Point to bucket in front of each line.) Then you will take the fish and put it in the bucket on the other side of the room. (Point to bucket on other side of the room.)”

After the Activity: “You did a great job catching those fish. How many people did Jesus feed in our story? (Allow children to answer) He fed 5000 people. How many fish and loaves did He have? (Allow children to answer) He had 2 fish and 5 loaves. Is that enough to feed 5000 people? (Allow children to answer) No, it is not, but Jesus can do anything because He is God’s Son. Why did Jesus perform miracles? [Bottom Line] Jesus performed miracles to show He is God’s Son!”

Make It Real: Wrap up, Prayer Time & Dismissal(10:00-10:05/11:30-11:35)LEADER: “In our Bible story today Jesus did an amazing miracle. He fed a large crowd of people with a boy’s lunch of just 2 fish, and 5 loaves of bread. If you had been the boy would you have given Jesus your lunch? (Allow children to answer) That would have been a hard choice because I’m sure the boy was really hungry, and he probably though it wasn’t even enough to feed everyone. He didn’t keep the lunch for just himself, though. He gave it to Jesus, and Jesus was able to do something amazing with it. We may feel we’re too little to do anything for Jesus, but when we let Him use us, He can do amazing things through us too. Why did Jesus perform miracles?”

CHILDREN and LEADER: [Bottom Line] “Jesus performed miracles to show He is God’s Son!”

LEADER: “Jesus gave the people food so they would not be hungry. The next day, Jesus said that He is the bread of life. Only Jesus can give us everything we need. Jesus gives us forgiveness, friendship, and life forever with Him.”

“Let’s say our bible verse together with the motions!”.

Prayer Journal: If you would like to, ask the children if they have prayer request and write them in the journal; the children’s ministry team will pray for them.

Prayer Sticks: There are holders with craft sticks and a sharpie marker on the counter. Please make sure that each child’s name is written on a craft stick and put into the classroom cup. Have each child pick a stick with another child’s name on it and pray for that child. Have children return the sticks to the cup when they are all finished praying.

Prayer:LEADER: “God, thank You for giving us what we need the most when You sent Jesus to rescue us from sin, Help us to trust in Jesus so we can have forgiveness, friendship, and life forever with You. Amen.”

Helper Page: These are things you can have your helpers do while you welcome the children into the classroom, teach, and dismiss the children.

Check-In:Have a helper with children who are coloring at tables.Have a helper with children who are playing with toys.

Leaving and returning to and from large group:Have helpers help children clean up.Have a helper help the children get in line.Have a helper take the backpack.Have a helper walk at the middle of the line and one at the end of the line to large group.

Bible Story Time:Have your helpers set up crafts.

Check-Out:Have a helper help get the children and their crafts as their parent arrives.Have a helper put caps back on markers, clean up tables, clean up toys, projects, etc.

*1st Service have a helper put coloring sheets on tables for 2nd service.*2nd Service helpers should also put crayons and markers back in cabinet and wipe down tables.
