#1 Option: Do nothing. Your current grades = your final grades

#2 Option: Artistic Response to COVID-19

Daily Collage Drawing Directions:

Every generation has their defining moments -wars, financial crises, major scientific innovations, natural disasters, etc. I clearly remember the Space Shuttle exploding, the fall of the Berlin Wall, Desert Storm, the Oklahoma City bombing, and 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, just to name a few. Since I do believe the COVID-19 pandemic will be one of your generation's defining moments, I would like for you guys to memorialize it in a collage of words and images.

- I want this to be a personal journey for you - a response to the current situation in which we all find ourselves.

Since writing and art are both amazingly cathartic (psychological relief through the open expression of strong emotions)…

- I would like for you to draw/journal a little EACH DAY on the SAME sheet of paper to create a collage that is both interesting and emotive. I'm amazed at how rapidly things are changing, so getting new information each day and drawing your emotional response to this information should not be a difficult task. I want it to be meaningful, so please give yourself time to process and respond to what you’re feeling. What new news has come in today and how you feel about that? How have you had to change and adjust your life to the new circumstances? What good and bad things have come out of these adjustments? Etc.

- I would like for you to express this mostly in images with a few words to support your ideas and feelings.

- Please add color. You may choose to use color pencil, but you may also use any other color medium you might have (acrylic paint, watercolor, marker, etc.)

- Projects should have at least 10 images and 10 words incorporated. Please do not try to do this all in one day – that would defeat the purpose of the assignment.

Step 6: Find values on this grayscale that match the values you have numbered on your photo. Find all of the values that match your number 1 and label them 1. Find all of the values that match your number 2 and label them 2. Continue with all of the other values on your portrait. You will have multiple options for every number because there will be multiple areas of the grayscale that are the same value.

Step 7: Find the corresponding areas on the color wheel that were marked on your grayscale. However, this time you will pick ONLY 1 color to be your number 1, one color for your number 2, etc. Choose colors from all around the color wheel so you have lots of colors in your finished work.

Step 8: Apply the chosen colors to your portrait in the areas marked for that specific value. Your finished product should look something like these! Yes, there are many steps and this will take a while to do, but it will be worth it! You can do it! I believe in you!
