A Faithful Note from Deacon Ron
Stewardship of Treasure “For it is in giving that we receive”
A Stewardship Thought “Using God's Gifts, Doing God's Work”
This weekend in our Gospel we hear Luke’s version of the Beatitudes. This story is special to me because a couple of years ago I was blessed to give a sermon on the Mount of the Beatitudes in Israel. Matthew’s version of this story takes place on a hill and is much longer, while Luke’s version is told on a stretch of level ground and is more concise. But both versions tell of a simple truth, that those who love God, and persevere in faith through all the hardships of life will be richly rewarded in Heaven. If our Gospel
reading today had gone just two verses longer we would have heard Jesus telling us to love our enemies and to do good to those who hate us and to bless those who curse us. I think that in these two verses Jesus is pointing out the difference between a believer and a disciple. Believing is so much easier than acting on our belief and living the life of a disciple. Loving our enemies is hard but that’s what Jesus tells us to do. And remember Jesus didn’t come to make believers, he came to make disciples, in fact he charged the Apostles to go and spread the Gospel and make disciples of all nations. Peace, Deacon Ron
“Blessed are you when people hate you… exclude and insult you, and denounce your name… on account of the Son of Man.” ~Luke 6:22 All of us have been in situations when someone has made a negative comment or joke about God or our Catholic faith. How did you respond? Did you stay silent or pretend to go along with the crowd because you didn’t want to cause waves and then, later, you felt bad? Know that God is with you all the time, the Holy Spirit will put the right words in your mouth. Pray for the strength and courage to proclaim our faith to others, especially during uncomfortable situations.
A MESSAGE FROM THE BOOKKEEPER Recently Sacred Heart changed
vendors for the distribution of our contribution envelopes to help cut cost. The timing and procedure in which the vendors distribute the envelopes will
cause some parishioners to temporarily receive envelopes from both the old
and new vendor. Feel free to use either of the envelopes sent to you. We apologize for any confusion this may
have caused. Thank you for your understanding.

FRIENDS FOR LIFE BABY ITEM DRIVE A HUGE SUCCESS!
We are so blessed to have such a caring and generous faith community at Sacred Heart. THANK YOU once again to the hundreds of parishioners, the staff and students at SHS, and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus for your overwhelming response to our annual Baby Item Drive. We were able to provide the following places with many sought after baby items to help people in need in Middle Georgia: SH Christian Service Center, CORE Healthcare for Women, The Kolbe Center for Life, and Family Advancement Ministries. They are so appreciative of your generosity. This is a wonderful way to help support mothers in need who choose life! If you missed the drive and would still like to donate, call or text me at 478-397-3545. Thank you so much for your continued support, Margie Rossi Coordinator of SH Friends for LIFE Ministry

We have spent the first few weeks at CR Sacred Heart understanding Principle 1, which tells us we have an issue or issues we can’t fix on our own. As a
result of admitting our powerlessness in Principle 1, we can move from chaos to hope in Principle 2. Hope comes when we believe that a power greater than ourselves, Jesus Christ, can and will restore us to SANITY! Jesus can provide that power where we were powerless over our addictions and compulsive behaviors. This week we will be talking about SANITY – wholeness of mind; making decisions based on the truth - this Tuesday in the PAC cafeteria at 7 PM. Don’t let the past steal your present.
