Through our gifts of time, talents, and treasures, we serve our parish as we journey together to the Kingdom of God.

THE SOCIAL COMMITTEE NEEDS YOUR HELP~

The Committee will have a booth at the Bavarian Fall Festival

that will be held September 13-15. Can you spare some time to

help with a three hour shift on any one or more of these days?

Help is also needed in the kitchen during the

Festival weekend.

Please call Helene at 834-3698.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

RCIA News

Do you know someone who wishes to

become a Catholic? Do you have

questions about Catholicism yourself?

Have you been away from the Church, and

are considering coming back?

The RCIA process is for you!

Week by week, we read, discuss, and

pray. We learn about God, the Church, and

ourselves. We study and prepare

ourselves to meet God in

the Sacraments.

Want to learn more? Call

Kathy Cheatle at 781-3009,

or the Parish Office at

834-7861, Option 1.

CATHOLIC CHARITIES Counseling and Adoption Services

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT will be

held in Sacred Heart Church on Friday from 7:00 a.m.

until closing with Benediction at 4:00 p.m.

PLEASE PRAY for the repose of the souls of all the

faithful departed. May God grant them eternal rest and

comfort all those who mourn them.

PRAYER LIST - Let us remember all the sick especially

Kathy Clausen, Sandy Farley, Alice Feldbauer,

Harold Gnan Jr., Cindy Herzing, Baby Leo Jaques,

Tom Nellis Jr., Tammy Pearsall, Marty Prokop,

Kathleen (Daisy) Rowley, Matthew Sharrow, David

Weaver and William A. Bauer. We pray in hope that

God’s healing power may touch all those who are sick.

SACRED HEART PRAYER CHAIN - If you want to be

placed on the prayer chain for any need, just call Rose

at 781-6430, or Ann at 834-6534.

A FAMILY PERSPECTIVE

Today Jesus warns us His Word will create conflict

between parents and children. In a permissive society

which advocates individualism and consumerism,

parents must continue to teach and live the gospel

values of respect, service to others, forgiveness,

generosity and compassion. A Christian family is a

countercultural family.

WORD OF LIFE!!

If your employment is home based or you are a

homemaker, you may have to create your own "marriage

friendly" work policies. Agree about when you will take

work phone calls or when it is time to stop WORK and

relax together. Of course, if you have young children,

you don't fully control your time. You're always on call.

Have the spouse who works "outside the home" spell

you.

Nothing is more important than our relationship

with Christ. Sometimes this relationship has

consequences. As we heard in the First Reading, the

Prophet Jeremiah learned this lesson well.

He lived at a tumultuous time in Israel's history,

right around 600 BC. The northern half of Israel had

recently been conquered by Assyria, but the small,

southern part of the country, Judah, where Jerusalem

was located and where Jeremiah lived, was still free

when Jeremiah was born. But it was located right

between two powerful empires that were trying to

conquer the whole area: Egypt in the south and

Babylon in the north. Jeremiah's mission in life was to

be prophet, to constantly remind the people and rulers

of Judah to trust in God. If they obeyed God's

commandments and instructions, God would protect

them.

Unfortunately, neither the leaders nor the

people wanted to hear that. Instead, they wanted to

take matters into their own hands, fight their own

battles, and arrange their own peace treaties. The one

thing they didn't want to do was to depend on and obey

God. Every time the King of Judah asked Jeremiah for

guidance, Jeremiah would pray, receive instructions,

and inform the King - and then the King would do the

exact opposite. And then God would ask Jeremiah to

issue warnings, calling the people to repentance.

But they wouldn't repent.

So eventually Judah was conquered by

Babylon, Jerusalem was obliterated, and the Jews were

taken into exile. Through it all, Jeremiah was the

despised scapegoat. They spread lies about him,

mocked him, burned his writings, and finally put him in

prison. When even that didn't silence him, they threw

him down a well so he would starve to death.

Why? Simply because he was being faithful to

what God was asking of him. Yes, choosing to follow

Christ in a fallen world has consequences, and God

wants us to be ready for them.

Father Michael

I would like to welcome Nathan & Katie Lenze and Leo

who have joined Sacred Heart during the month of July

May God bless our journey together.

NOTE: Just a reminder, your clergy and your diocese

will never ask you for any personal information or ask

for gift cards of any type – exercise extreme caution.

Youth & Young Adult Ministry

Youth Group still meets on

Wednesday evenings from

7:00-9:00 p.m., games, food &

fellowship. This is a chance for

your teen to interact with others

in a Faith-based environment.

Come to the CYMA and see just what we are all about.

WOULD YOU CONSIDER JOINING OUR TEAM?

Disciples Life Faith Formation serves the four

parishes of Sacred Heart, St. Boniface, St. Mary and

Queen of the World. We are striving to be a team that

offers opportunities for parishioners of all ages to grow

in faith. It is our hope that you might consider being part

of our group of volunteers.

The word 'catechist' can intimidate some Catholics, who

feel unqualified to take on the role of 'teacher.' But there

are many different roles on our team! We want to take

the talents and strengths of each other to build a solid,

balanced team. Please pray how you might join us in

making an impact. If you have questions or would

like more information, don't hesitate to call our of-

fice at 781-1042 or email [email protected].

Thank You!

LET’S GET READY! Father Michael’s Bible Study will be

on “1st & 2nd Peter” & will begin at 7:00 p.m.

will last 5 to 6 weeks. It will be held in the
