RECONCILIATION
NOVEMBER 12, 2017 Thirty-Second Sunday in Ordinary Time
MATTHEW 25:1-13 Stay awake and be ready! For you do not
know what day your Lord will come.
A Word From Fr. Eckert
Dear Friends, I think one of the most terrifying phrases in Scripture is “I do not know you.” We hear this line in the Gospel today at the conclusion of the parable when the five foolish virgins miss their chance to enter the wedding feast with the bridegroom and find themselves locked outside. This begs the question: “What could get me locked out side the heavenly banquet?” Apparently from the parable, it is not being known by the bridegroom, Jesus Christ. This makes sense when you think about it, because if the oil for the lamps is a relationship with our Lord, than this is certainly not something that can be quickly shared; rather, that relationship, that mutual knowledge is something that has to be developed each day of our lives like any other relationship. And so, as the days grow shorter, as the year draws to a close, really stop and ask yourself “Is there any way Jesus could say to me ‘I do not know you.’” Be honest with yourself, and if it seems that you haven’t been spending much time with Him at all, a gift that only you can give to Him and can’t be given to you to oer by anyone else, then maybe it’s time to get to know Him and let Him know you better. Praying that each one of us may grow ever closer to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, I remain, Sincerely yours in Christ, Fr. John

Una palabra de Fr. Eckert
