USB Flash Drive Instructions Instructions for accessing East Carolina University’s Compliance Certification Document are listed below. Mac users need only follow steps 1 and 2 below to view the Compliance Certification Document. Windows users will need to follow steps 1 through 4.

1. Insert and Open the flash drive. 2. Double click the “ECU Compliance Certification Documents.html” file to open the Table

of Contents page (Please ignore all other files on the flash drive. These files can be accessed through the Table of Contents page).

3. If your default browser is Internet Explorer, then you may receive a security alert in a

banner at the top of the Table of Contents page. This is a common security feature of the Microsoft Windows platform and Internet Explorer browser. The content contained on the flash drive is not a threat to your computer. To dismiss the alert and enable the full functionality of the flash drive, please click the alert and then choose the “Allow Blocked Content” option.

a. Another security alert will appear. Please click the “Yes” button to continue.

4. You can now access East Carolina University’s Compliance Certification Documents.

Please read the Tips and Troubleshooting section below for additional instruction.

Tips and Troubleshooting

1. To view the Introduction Video, a Quick Time player must be installed on your computer.

a. Video playback will not start automatically. To start the video, you must click the

“Play” button. 2. The Faculty Roster report contains a link to “Department Information Sheets”. If you

use this link, you will receive a security warning alerting you that the document is trying to connect to another file. Please click the “Allow” button to open the Department Information Sheets report.

3. When opening the “Compliance Report” with Internet Explorer you may be prompted

by the security alert described in Step 3 above. Please follow the same steps listed above to dismiss the alert and enable the full functionality of the flash drive.

4. When opening the “Compliance Report” with FireFox you may need to click the “Open”

button to open the navigation menu.

Faculty Roster Instructions

East Carolina University’s faculty roster is included in the 3.7.1 narrative and can also be accessed from the Table of Contents menu on your flash drive. A Department Information Sheet report is included as a supplement to the roster and is fully explained in the 3.7.1 narrative. It can be accessed from the faculty roster or the Table of Contents menu. Detailed instructions for reviewing the roster and department information sheets are listed below.

Navigation 1. Select a college from the Navigation Menu/Bookmarks on the left sidebar.

a. The faculty roster is in .pdf format and computers operating on a MAC platform

will need to complete additional steps to view the Navigation Menu/Bookmarks.

For Safari:

i. Open the report.

ii. An icon menu will appear at the bottom of the report. Click the “Open

with Preview” icon (third icon from the left).

iii. Click the “Table of Contents” button located at the top of the screen.

For Firefox:

i. Open the report.

ii. Choose “Open with Preview”.

iii. Click the “Table of Contents” button located at the top of the screen.

2. Click on the expand button (+) preceding each college name to display individual

departments.

3. Select a department; faculty are listed alphabetically.

Supporting Documentation

4. Click on links in column four for information regarding specific Equivalent Alternate,

Standard Alternate, 18 Graduate Hours or Supporting Documentation for credentialing

specific faculty.

5. Return to the Faculty Roster by clicking on the “Return to Faculty Listing” (in red) at the

top of the page (DO NOT SCROLL when viewing alternate credentials. Scrolling will take

you to the credentials of the next faculty member. If you scroll and then click the

“Return to Faculty Listing” link, you will return to the wrong location in the faculty

roster).

Department Information Sheets

6. An asterisk (*) beside a degree in column three indicates that the degree has been

vetted by the department, college and division and is considered a related discipline for

each teaching discipline or for a specific course.

a. Related Discipline for each Teaching Discipline:

i. Click on the “Department Information Sheet” link in the navigation menu

(in red).

ii. Scroll through the Table of Contents to find the department (listed

alphabetically).

iii. Click on the department itself or the Related Discipline for each Teaching

Discipline link.

iv. The degree (with CIP code) will be listed.

b. Related Discipline for a Specific Course:

i. Click on the “Department Information Sheet” link in the navigation menu

(in red).

ii. Scroll through the Table of Contents to find the pre-fix of the specific

course listed under the Related Discipline for a Specific Course link.

iii. Click on the department itself or the Related discipline for Specific

Courses.

iv. Scroll to find the faculty member’s degree (and CIP code) listed.

v. Specific courses will be listed beneath each related degree.

7. Each time you return to the Department Information Sheet, it is necessary to scroll up to

the Table of Contents. By default, the Department Information Sheet link will take you

to the last page viewed. It may be helpful to print the Department Information Sheet

document if you do not have multiple screens to view both the Department Information

Sheet and the Faculty Roster concurrently.
