Treatment

• Author: Jonathan Stoessel• Genre: Fan fiction, Dark Comics, Remix• Title: “Sad But True: The Man Beneath the

Mask”

• Logline: The darker side of Batman (Bruce Wayne) is presented, for a world that needs a thankless crusader for justice. Follow Bruce Wayne from the murder of his parents, to the moral conundrum he fights with everyday. Metallica’s “Sad But True” highlights each facet of “The Dark Knights” life, providing a far more solemn tone to the life of Gotham’s greatest hero and pariah.

• Synopsis: The Dark Knight’s most important experiences, struggles and characteristics are highlighted by six separate lyrical elements in the song “Sad But True”. Each of these elements is complimented by a progressive visual representation of Bruce Wayne’s life struggles. His constant struggle with his own demons throughout his dark life, clearly highlight the necessity for his presence in Gotham City. Behind the mask, there is a man. But in front of the man, there clearly is a mask.

Treatment

• Author: Jonathan Stoessel• Genre: Global Issue, Sedentary Children,

Social Skills• Title: The Digital Wall• Logline: A growing problem (to some) around the world is the

movement away from social activity to that of technological interaction. Kids in the “Digital Age” have a plethora of outlets that facilitate a social image. However, the question is, do devices such as i-Phones override a humans desire to master a physical activity or even play? Will playgrounds close, pools dry up, and fields overgrow as quickly as apps can download? Imagining a world such as this is the goal of this hypothetical video which draws from Pink Floyd’s “The Wall”, and a possibly some trips to the “Twilight Zone”.

• Synopsis: The viewer is taken on a hypothetical tour through a world that is filled with empty parks, basketball courts and baseball fields. At the same time, an adolescent is followed to show just how much time he spends on a digital device daily, preferring to do so instead of enjoying time outside with his friends or practicing his favorite sport, baseball. A piece such as this displays just how much time our youth is spending on the couch, instead of experiencing the world around them. Rounding out this hypothetical world, is the thing parents and guardians are tempted to use as punishment time and time again…the confiscation of an i-Phone.

Treatment

• Author: Jonathan Stoessel• Genre: Instructional Video, Teaching

Resource• Title: The Hitting Pyramid• Logline: The myth that the movie “The Natural” described of a

magical bat that could overcome age and natural ability is something that any serious baseball player only wishes could be true. In reality, hitting a baseball is the single most difficult thing to do in sports and requires a vast amount of dedication and training to perfect. Developing a consistent approach to hitting means breaking the swing down into several pieces so each of the mechanics of hitting can be learned independently. Eventually, “The Hitting Pyramid” is constructed from the foundation in the feet to the capstone of the swing, the head and hands. This video is designed to provide insight into several drills that refine muscle memory in each of these areas.

• Synopsis: To increase the educational value of the video and increase its instructional potential, “the hitting pyramid” will be broken down into 4 Sections of drills (Feet, Legs, Hips, Hands). Coinciding with footage of the drills being executed by my assistant, complimentary professional hitting videos and PowerPoint slides will break down each of these drills and provide a synopsis of each of my tips in a more visual format.

Development, Informative• Title: Defiance, is not ignorance…• Logline: As educators we are beginning to understand the different

idiosyncrasies involved in developmental and elementary education, particularly in the field of special education. While major study has been done to analyze the impact of the myriad of autism spectrum disorders, uncertainty still surrounds many behavioral disorders. Oppositional defiant disorder (or ODD) is becoming a more common diagnosis for children who already suffer from varying forms of ADHD. Formerly, this may have been chalked up to a misbehaved student with poor reinforcement at home, but the problem is more neurological and innate than educators would have ever thought possible.

• Synopsis: This informative video will include clips from an interview done with Marisa Amador, a 4th Grade Special Education teacher in the South Orange-Maplewood School District, who recently had intimate experience with a child diagnosed with ODD. Thin interview will be supplemented with informative slides about ODD, as well as Xtranormal cartoons which represent anecdotes documented by Ms. Amador in her experience with this child. In a very formal, yet informative way, educators will have the chance to understand the disability through both content, and context.
