Why Safe Communities? What’s going on?•In Oklahoma in 2013:

▫621 fatal crashes with 678 people killed 168 of those fatal crashes were alcohol-

related with 189 people killed▫10,809 injury crashes with 14,734 people

injured

What is a Safe Community Group?•A Safe Community Group is a group of

community members and professionals who join together to prevent injuries and fatalities in their community.

•Comprised of citizens, law enforcement, public health, medical, education, business, civic groups, etc.

•Utilize data to drive the focus of the group.
