Purchase An e-commerce website has been designed in order to help the ING financial professional purchase and download the appropriate software and predefined configuration. Once you click on “Buy Software”, you will be walked through the purchase and download procedure.



Download & Installation Once your purchase is completed, you will download a self-extracting executable, which will include the SafeGuard Easy software, configuration file and installation script. The following steps need to be completed.

DO NOT EXECUTE THE DOWNLOAD UNTIL THE PRE-INSTALLATION STEPS ARE COMPLETED

Pre-installation steps 1. Complete backup of your disk drive.

2. Disconnect all USB thumb drives. NOTE: DO NOT RECONNECT USB DRIVES UNTIL FULL ENCRYPTION HAS COMPLETED.

NOTE: IF YOU DO NOT DISCONNECT USB THUMB DRIVE, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO USE IT ON ANY OTHER COMPUTER.

3. Disconnect all USB hard drives.

NOTE: DO NOT RECONNECT USB DRIVES UNTIL FULL ENCRYPTION HAS COMPLETED.

NOTE: IF YOU WISH TO ENCRYPT YOUR USB HARD DRIVE, MAKE SURE IT IS CONNECTED BEFORE INSTALLATION AND DO NOT DISCONNECT UNTIL ALL STEPS IN THE GUIDE ARE COMPLETED.

4. Run a check on the hard drive

a. Press “Start” on your taskbar

b. Point to “Run…”

c. Type cmd in “Run” window

d. Once the cmd window is presented, complete the following two

commands

1. c: 2. chkdsk /f 3. Depending on your hard drive configuration, you may be

asked to schedule this during your next restart, if prompted, answer “Y”.



4. Restart your computer



NOTE: Steps 5-8 are for XP only. Refer to Step 9 for Windows 2000

5. Disable 3rd party software applications such as Anti-Virus & Anti-Spyware software packages.

NOTE: If you are using anti-virus software “Windows Live OneCare” from Microsoft, please refer to Microsoft’s website for instructions on disabling the software.

a. Press “Start” on your taskbar

b. Point to “Run…”

c. Type msconfig in “Run” window

d. Once the “System Configuration Utility” presents itself, complete the

following.

1. Under the “Services” tab, select “Hide All Microsoft Services”

2. Click “Disable All”, click “Apply”



3. Under the “Startup” tab, Click “Disable All”. 4. Click “Apply” 5. Click “Close”

6. Save all work and close all windows 7. Restart computer – VERY IMPORTANT 8. Once the restart is complete, you may be presented with the following screen.

This screen indicates that you used the “System Configuration Utility” to change you systems configuration. Once the all the steps in this document are complete, you will need to run “msconfig” a second time to enable the services that were disabled in previous steps.



NOTE: If you are running Windows XP, skip step 9

9. Disable 3rd party software applications such as Anti-Virus & Anti-Spyware software packages.

a. Common anti-virus programs include Norton Anti-Virus, McAfee Anti-Virus, Windows Live OneCare, F-Secure and many others. Some anti-virus programs come pre- loaded on new computers or are distributed by internet service providers (ISP) such as Verizon, AOL, Earthlink, etc. If you're not certain that anti-virus software is installed, please refer to the technical documentation that came with your computer or ISP, which may be available on their website. Note: anti-virus software must be disabled before continuing the installation process.

b. Common anti-spyware programs include Max Secure Spyware Detector, Webroot Spy Sweeper, PC Tools Spyware Doctor, ParetoLogic XoftSpy and many others. Like anti-virus, anti-virus programs can come pre- loaded on new computers or distributed by your internet provider. Please refer to your anti-spyware documentation for instructions on disabling the product, if you are not sure if anti-spyware is installed, please refer to your technical documentation that came with your computer, which may be available on their website.



Installation 1. Double-click on “SGEasy_ING.exe”. Read information displayed within the

dialog box, click “OK”

2. A WinZip dialog box will be display, click “Unzip”.

DO NOT CHANGE THE DEFAULT OPTIONS



c. A CMD window will display starting the installation of the product. Once installation is done, your system WILL RESTART.



Encryption After your system restarts, SafeGuard Easy will start the process of encrypting your hard drive. This process will take some time depending on the size of your hard drive. The slide bar located at the bottom of the window (1% -100%) indicates how much of the CPU the encryption process has access to. It is recommended to leave this at 100% and not use your computer until the process is complete. NOTE: This is a total hard drive encryption; the time taken does not depend on the amount of data on your hard drive, but the total size of the drive.

NOTE: Once the encryption process has started, it is not possible for it to be stopped. When it completes, you will be notified.



Kernel Backup – Floppy Drive SafeGuard Easy installs a new kernel onto your machine in order for your Windows operating system to read the newly encrypted hard drive. Each kernel is unique to each installation and needs to be backed up in case emergency tools are needed at a future time.

The following instructions are for computers with available floppy drives. If you do not have a floppy drive available, skip to instructions for “No Floppy Drive”, page 15.

1. When prompted, select “Yes, I want to create a kernel backup now.



2. It is recommended that you create a bootable rescue disk, select “Create bootable rescue disk, including SafeGuard Easy emergency tools and kernel backup”, click “Next >”



3. Insert formatted diskette into drive, click “Next >”. Note: All data on the floppy drive will be lost as the bootable floppy is created.



4. It is also recommended that a new backup be created every 30 days. When prompted again in 30 days, the above procedure should be followed.



Kernel Backup – No Floppy Drive Available Nowadays, some mobile devices like notebooks no longer have floppy drives. For this reason we have also made it possible for you to start SafeGuard Easy from a CD in an emergency.

1. Select “Create kernel backup only.” Click “Next >”.



2. Choose a location to store the backup kernel, click “Next >”. NOTE: If you choose to store the initial backup on your local hard drive, make sure you later move it to a secure location, such as a USB thumb drive or burn on to a CD.



3. It is also recommended that a new backup be created every 30 days. When prompted again in 30 days, the above procedure should be followed.

4. Please refer to appendix A to create a rescue CD for emergency recovery. The instructions for this are on 358 of your support manual. It's referred to as 26.3.



Post Installation Congratulations, you have successfully installed Utimaco’s SafeGuard Easy product for hard drive encryption. In order to restore you services and startup applications, you will need to complete the following steps using the msconfig command.

d. Under the “General” tab, select “Normal Startup”

e. Under the “Services” tab, select “Enable All”



f. Under the “Startup” tab, select “Enable All”, click “OK”

g. You will be prompted to restart you computer, click “Restart”



Appendix A

How to create a bootable emergency CD. Nowadays, mobile devices like notebooks no longer have floppy drives. For this reason we have also made it possible for you to start SafeGuard Easy from a CD in an emergency. Any commercially available CD burner software should be able to complete this operation. Please refer to the technical documentation that came with your computer or CD burner vendor, which may also be available on- line. The below instructions are meant to be general instructions in creating the bootable CDROM.

NOTE: THESE ARE GENERIC INSTRUCTIONS. PLEASE REFER TO YOUR TECHNICAL DOCUMENTATION FOR PROPER CD BURNING PROCEEDURES.

1. Open CD burner software

2. Create a data CD project.

3. Add the backed-up kernel (BACKUP.svf) to the project

4. Before burning, make sure you choose the option to make the CD “bootable”. This option should prompt you for an .img file. A “floppy.img” file has been provided for you, this files contains all the SafeGuard Emergency Tools for your version of SafeGuard Easy. This file can be found within the c:\SGEasy_install\Tools directory of your hard drive.



Appendix B These are detailed instructions on how to open a support ticket with Utimaco’s Technical Support. The preferred method is outlined below. Opening a support ticket through the internet will allow for proper tracking of your support issue. If internet access is unavailable, please contact Utimaco’s Technical Support team by calling 877-Utimaco, option #2. If you are prompted to leave a voicemail, please leave proper information so a technician can return your call. It is very important, whether opening a support ticket via the internet or if leaving a voicemail on Utimaco’s support line, tha t you leave your name, indicate that you are an ING financial professional and received Utimaco’s SafeGuard Easy product through the Utimaco/ING portal.

1. Visit the Utimaco/ING portal and select “Continue to MyUtimaco” from within the “Help and Support” section.



2. If you have a valid MyUtimaco Login, enter it here, if not, please log in as a Guest. NOTE: When logging in with a valid MyUtimaco account, you will not be required to fill in all user information since this would have been provided during initial registration.



3. Once logged in, you will be able to open a new support ticket by going to “Support>Support Tickets>Open new Support Ticket”.

Important note: The next window that will be presented that will allow you to enter contact information and a problem description is a pop-up window. Most browsers block pop-ups from being presented when clicking on a link within a webpage. In order to override your pop-up blocker for this one transaction, hold down the control (ctrl) button as you select “Support>Support Tickets>Open new Support Ticket”.
