Staff and Volunteers Both Assisted PWSRCAC’s Participation in SAFETUG
• Driven by board positions: – All laden tankers to be escorted by 2 tugs (PRT and ETT [tether]) – Tugs at Hinchinbrook to be highly maneuverable with high bollard pull
• POVTS (and then other committees)) and staff started interaction with MARIN (Maritime Institute of the Netherlands)
• SAFETUG is a project with 2 phases – Consortium of shipping industry leaders including PWSRCAC – ~$100,000 participation fee (Phase I and Phase II)
• Data Analysis Project team formed – Analyze SAFETUG data with respect to PWSRCAC interests – Promote organizational understanding of options and trade-offs
associated with developing recommendations for the PWS tug fleet

Findings and Conclusions
• SAFETUG testing conditions appear to adequately cover wave spectra found in central PWS in both summer and winter
• SAFETUG testing conditions appear to adequately cover wave spectra found in the GOA during summer but not during winter.

• Accept the white paper “Analysis of SAFETUG Wave Spectra with Respect to PWS Wave Conditions—Project Report” as documenting that activities reported therein of the SAFETUG Data Analysis project team are in accordance with the tasking given to the project team.
